How many companies are writing a reminder email to their employees about the companies substance abuse policy right now?

If you aren't just making a joke, CBD isn't psychoactive and wouldn't show up in a drug test as they test for THC. That said some CBD products contain trace amounts of THC so better safe than sorry if your employer tests.

When Colorado legalized it, our office manager essentially told us “don’t do it.” I emailed our HR person and asked if they were going to update the policy and she just replied with “Come talk to me.” They’ve never had anything but a verbal policy on it as far as I know.

I have a gentleman who is 68 years old and is a market rep for me. He lives in CA and takes CBD oil every morning. He and his wife traveled to Europe and upon arriving in Luxembourg he had a heart attack; the widow maker. He lived. The surgeon asked him a number of questions, with one of the first ones being "do you use CBD derivatives?" When he answered yes the surgeon told him "this explains why you're alive. The only time we typically see this occur is when the victims use CBD regularly." While he has some damage, it's minimal and is nearly back to 100% use of all parts of the heart after 3 months.

Better question is how many companies are meeting to change their substance abuse policy to make it align with new law?
There's nothing that says you can't **** can someone for it. Booze is perfectly legal to consume but if I have a guy get caught at .01 driving a company vehicle of ours he will be fired on the spot.

Iowa is an at will state. An employer can legally fire you for saying "Go Cyclones" if they really want to.

How many companies do any sort of drug testing? I've never had to take one for a job.

Sounds like it comes down to as long as you're not lighting up at or before work and make it painfully obvious that it's affecting your job they won't make issue with it.

Just like alcohol.
