Trends in the NFL are weird. 10 years ago Hakeem would have been 1st or 2nd rounder, no question, with comparisons to Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson. No one seems to want big receivers who can stretch the field anymore. Maybe its the general lack of talent at the QB position? IDK. The league is getting harder to watch every year.
NFL teams love guys like Tyreek Hill (player, not the human being) over guys like Calvin Johnson. The evidence is in that tiny speedster Marquise Brown going before guys like DK Metcalf this year.

I read beforehand that ABC’s was more for the casual viewer and people that wanted to be entertained. So I stayed away from that one

It was not the same as the ESPN broadcast? Well no wonder but I can't believe they produced different shows. I just don't want to use my limited data to stream something that I could get free in better quality OTA.

Didn’t check in to ABC’s but I’m pretty sure they were different

I didn't watch much of either but what I saw was ABC had the College GameDay guys and ESPN had the usual NFL guys like they have always done.

I've been hoping that the Chiefs take Montgomery as he would be a perfect fit in that offense and already is kind of in the same mold of Kareem Hunt. With the Tyreek Hill news (he's probably headed out of town like Hunt eventually if true) wouldn't mind them taking Butler too. Butler isn't the same kind of WR that Hill is but they are going to need a WR and probably will take 1 tonight.

Chiefs have two picks in the 2nd round and 1 in the 3rd. They need help in the secondary and at LB too so they could go defense with any of those picks if the right guy falls. They don't have a 4th round pick so if they are going to pick an impact skill position player or 2 on offense it will likely be tonight.

Mahoms to Butler would be pretty unstoppable.

Guy on the radio with KXNO today indicated that they are really trying to move up to the top of the 2nd to get a WR. I really don't think or want them to do that but we will see. There are lots of WR's left and they have a lot of needs.

And yet one school had 2 TE's picked in the top 20. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.
It makes sense because they are studs and Iowa has had great success placing productive TE's in the NFL. The bigger amazement is how Iowa didn't win more ball games with those weapons. #InCampbellWeTrust

The NFL is lazy and stupid with evaluations. Butler is 100% going to get dinged for playing here, which doesn’t make sense but happens regardless.

Are people really this naive? U think the word around the NFL is “don’t draft guys from Iowa State”?

Turned out that Lazard being an UDFA was about right-signed to a practice squad and late in the year picked up by the Pack.

If a guy can help ur team, he will be picked at some point! For all the people saying, “the NFL hates ISU”, you also need to keep in mind that the NFL certainly knows who Campbell is as he was inquired about by at least a couple teams this past off season. Why would they pass on ISU players who aren’t developed but be interested in the head coach?

Come on.

As a Bills fan...

I’d become a Bills mafia for sure. There’s a Bills bar about 3 blocks from my house. Their fans seem like nice people.

Yeah, unless they're targeting one specific player I don't think they have to sacrifice draft capital to move up. By the time they pick at 61 and 63 there should still be a handful of decent prospects still there.

So tall guys are ok if you put a TE label on them but not a WR label? This is part of the slight bias against ISU. It's more of a favorable bias towards Iowa TE just because they have had 2 or 3 guys have some success. That really has nothing to do with these two but it is a bias.

With the Chiefs having 2 late second round picks, I would love to have them pick both Butler and Montgomery. Given the Tyreek Hill news, i would rather have Butler of the two, but would be ecstatic with both. Love the idea of Mahomes to Butler!

In their defense, I think its really hard for a tight end to carry a team. I would say the same thing for anyone other than a QB. At most, a great skill player might be worth 1 win. Its not like Fant/Hockenson would be the difference between winning 5 games and winning 10. They went 8-4. Without those guys I'm guessing they go like 6-6.

Hockenson and Fant are 6'4 and 6'5 and 250 lbs. Pretty average sized TEs. But they are fast and are good route runners. They still have to block DEs and LBs, so odds are that capability is going to come with a bigger frame. In general the trend of quickness and route running over size at the TE position has happened as well, it's just not quite as massive.

I think anti-ISU bias paranoia is pretty silly. If there were a bunch of guys in the league outplaying their draft position from ISU you might have a case. ISU guys don't get drafted because until this year guys weren't good enough or aren't what teams are looking for. Tons of guys are getting into camps, so it's not like ISU guys are getting black-balled or something. Iowa TEs get drafted because they're good on film, they show up at the combine and perform well, and happen to be in the mold of what NFL teams want right now.
