Does anyone know if it’s coaches, players, ath dept, Nike, or all of the above that don’t want gold (not yellow) pants?
Good question!

Have have a feeling we might be seeing a gold surprise, addition this year though; more than just the new cardinal jersey. I hope I'm right.

My rule has always been colored numbers on the jersey need to match the pants unless the pants match the helmet. So, for instance, with our current set...

Cardinal jersey with gold numbers and white pants... no match.
But that becomes okay with the white helmet in the v. TTU look we have.

...otherwise things just look too mismatched between elements.

The I-State logo looks just fine on the gold helmet if it's a stencil.....

I think this looks fantastic, a couple of the retro logos would look great too.

But if you go buy some of the color puritans on here then the gold would have to be true gold, because that it is the original color.

I know I bashed the stencil sample yesterday, I don't hate it to the degree I implied, something looks a little "empty" about the I.

My idea is sort of halfway between stencil and standard. Pretend the facemask is cardinal, changing that is beyond my immediate capability. (Also, shade of gold on the helmet is only approximate.)

Then I thought how would this poor combo of c-c-w look with a gold helmet? Would that help it? Gold socks to try first? View attachment 65367 Even better, red socks...? Now that's more like it. Another reason for a gold helmet. So much better than the c-c-w, IMO. View attachment 65368

I agree if there was a G-C-W at some point, socks couldn't be white, way too much imbalance (since we have no cardinal or gold on the pants). Of those options for socks, I'd go with cardinal before the gold. Gold balances with the helmet, but not sure if full package would look as good.

Those are last year’s away jerseys (unless they’re maintaining the thinner number font on this year’s away jerseys instead of switching to the bolder font on the cardinal jerseys)

Personally, again this is just another one of those what shade of gold topics, but I hope if we ever go back to the true gold we go to a more chrome gold, with a more yellow shade, similar to the I-State logo that has the chrome look to it. Instead of sparkly, glitter or metal flake look that has a more tan shade to it that several other schools use.
I've see some chrome yellow/gold around that would look great, very similar to our current yellow only chrome.

But again that is just a personal opinion, but frankly I am one that likes the yellow-gold myself, but if we want more true gold then chrome that shade. That is probably not the "True Iowa State" gold, which is close to what you have here.

Darn teens and their "filters"!

I really like that, I realize that (a) it's a bit towards FSU or 49ers (raiders vs niners in this photo!), and (b) that 'so-and-so at the alumni center has the original color swatches from 18xx and they were (disappointingly) yellow', etc...but if Coach Campbell can trick us all into accepting black as an official-unofficial color I think he could easily force everyone to accept a gradual goldening like that.

Speaking of decals/equipment in general, kudos to the Equipment guys!! They do a great job.

I always wondered how they get those stickers on so straight! View attachment 65380 Now I know...eyeball it!
As someone that got the "opportunity" to put all those stickers on for four years, it was super easy. Those warning stickers just had to start at the groove on the bottom of the helmet and then line the others up from there

Haha. No, it couldn't have been that easy. There had to be some kind of laser line or atomic jig or something, right?!

That said, when did you do your 4 years in ISU Equipment? Pretty cool gig I'll bet.

Last two years of Rhoads and first two years of Campbell. Had a little bit different role my senior year and had more football responsibilities and less equipment
