Clearly the gameplan was to keep Brock in the pocket and limit his scrambling. I hope that's not the plan for the entire season because his scrambling ability is what makes him so good. UNI played to the strength of their QB perfectly. That's how Brock needs to be allowed to play.

Also, for someone who mentioned the lack of deep balls today, I recall very clearly some deeper routes that never got to develop because Purdy was pressured and sacked each each time. The line did not hold up on the complex routes, especially the tackles.
Has JGJ got worse during his career?

It wasn’t just the play calling either. It was a whole new offense. A lot like what Iowa runs. No quarterback running back option. It was a crap version of the spread. Purdys best threat is his ability to run and we set up no run pass option plays for him. Hiring him as offensive coordinator might be the worst thing we have done since chizik hires Bolt and Rhodes hires Messingham.

It wasn't "just" being conservative ... it was changing from conservative to "huh?" at the worst possible moments. Like when we were running and consistently getting 4-5 yards, and then on 3rd and 1 switch to a pass. Just bizarre stuff.
I think that's a perfect description. Just weird timing on the calls, as if it was scripted rather than situational.

An Offense has one purpose, score points, unless you are ahead by 2+ scores, then you go into prevent mode. We play in prevent mode all game, putting all the pressure on the defense not to allow scoring. We win because of our defense and inspite of our offense. Hopefully everyone gets that.

I thought Big 10 football was boring to watch. By comparison, we made it look like a high octane air raid. Today's little **** show was just down right painful to watch.

3 tight ends? WTF?!?!? Jr. High teams are not even dumb enough to do that.

Time for CMC to step back away from the offense and let his assistants build something that can actually score points.

Did anyone that watched game on TV notice Steve Loney on sidelines? Is he back in some capacity with the staff or was just visiting? I could have swore he had a play call sheet. Anyhoo, we could have used his input tonight.

Bold strategy in this league if the goal is to make it to Dallas. This isn’t the Big 10 West.

Big Ten west has spread teams.

If ISU scored 45 points on a bunch of long runs from today's playcalling would it still be boring?

I must have blacked out from all that early morning tailgating and missed all those long runs that lead to 45 points. The score keeper must have blacked out as well because I don't see any in the box score...

I thought we ran the ball as good as we have in the past few year. But agree on the play calling. VERY conservative.

Did Purdy throw the ball more than 15 yards down the field the entire game??

Are we going to be back to not knowing who is really calling the plays?

If a random poster were to suggest Heacock is the real deal for ISU success on-field and if CMC ever left Heacock would be a natural fit for head coach would that poster be ostracized?
