I think this defense is missing whatever piece of the puzzle you need in order to play the "bend don't break" thing on 3rd and long. I get that the principle is to play soft on the quarterback and keep things in front of you, but they have failed at doing it over and over and over again.

Giving up 15 on 3rd and 14 IS breaking.

It's amazing how a defense as good as this can be so unbelievably awful on 3rd and long.

Mediocre 3rd and long defense and this team is undefeated.

Again, Heacock needs to go full Costanza on 3rd and long. Call the exact opposite of what you think you should.
