Does 7-5 most likely put us in the Camping World bowl?

Unless OU can creep back into the playoff race, everyone is knocked down a peg. At 7-5 we'd probably go to to Cheez-It. Maybe even Texas (although that probably would need us going only 6-6).

*edit* If ISU and OU had won Saturday, all other details equal, we'd be projected for Alamo. That's how much an expectation can swing in one weekend.

8-4. Beat OU and Texas back to back, handle KU, lose to K State to close out the regular season. I've hated that game since the schedule came out. Klieman has them playing well.

would probably have a big 12 title game on the line that would be one huge nut punch

That's been my fear. It would be the Iowa State-iest thing to go into Manhattan with a conference title game on the line and find a way to lose. Sorry, the scars from the Snyder years run deep.

The sub-question: Would you risk a nut-punch there compared to accepting 7-5, especially if it meant beating OU and UT along the way? I'd risk that trade-off.

Absolutely yes. Beating OU and Texa$ in the same year, let alone in back to back weeks, is damn near as good as playing for a conference championship. Have they ever pulled that off?

Here is the bowl selection order according to the B12 website:

Once the CFP has filled its bowl slots, Big 12 bowl partners will make selections from the remaining bowl eligible teams. Following is the order of selection. A bowl may pick from any available teams when it reaches its spot in the selection order.
Valero Alamo
Camping World
Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas
AutoZone Liberty
Cheez-It
SERVPRO First Responder

The real question is how many Cyclone fans will there really be left in 100 years considering all of the nut punching we've taken and everyone likely being sterile.

We have underachieved already. We could run the table and I’d still say that. Unless this team discovers some consistency (which hasn’t happened all year) it’s entirely possible they could find a way to lose out. That’s extreme, but every team in our schedule except Texas is improving (ok, OU isn’t but they are some horses). We aren’t right now.

So if we finish the season 9-3 and 7-2 in the conference and thus will be be playing in the Big 12 conference title game you will still say we underachieved. Come on.

That definitely would be another Lucy-with-the-football moment. We'd also look back with even more regret at not beating at least one of BU/OSU.
