Depends on what you consider a "mistake". They traded long term relevancy in basically any sport to ***** themselves out for money. They're fiscally set forever with the SEC $$$, but at the cost of nobody giving a crap about their athletics anymore because they have no history in their conference and are completely irrelevant in it.
Your point about Mizzou is correct, and I am not arguing against it. However, as a part-time Alabama fan, I like Mizzou in the SEC for football. The Tigers actually led the all-time series 2-1 when they joined - having beaten Alabama in the 1968 Gator Bowl and 1975 @ Legion Field. The Tide's only win was @ Mizzou in 1978. All 3 of those games were in the Bryant Era. So, 'Bama fans were always a little wary of the Tigers. Odd, I know!

So, Mizzou became the only team in the SEC to have a winning record over Alabama when they joined. That has changed, of course, as Alabama has won @ Mizzou, @ Atlanta (SEC Championship Game) and @ BDS to take a 4-2 series lead. I went down for the game @ BDS in 2018 - which was the first time Mizzou ever played in Tuscaloosa. It was like a nice OOC game in the middle of the season! Beating Mizzou NEVER gets old!

Big 12 is still in great shape. Our small conference membership is still a big advantage.

$330 million divided by 10 is always larger than divided by 14.

SEC will definitely be in the driver's seat if/when there is realignment in the 2024 timeframe. Just look at the recruiting standings...ISU, per 247 rankings would have finished 11th. Crazy separation of talent between the SEC/BIG and the other 3 conferences.

No you don't get it my friend. On this board, if you leave the Big 12, you're the enemy, and the move to another conference has to always be painted as a "mistake."
Despite the evidence to the contrary.

Wow...and people on here still maintain Mizzou made a mistake in leaving.

Mizzou's thousands of empty seats for home FB and MBB games, enrollment dips and loss of regional rivalry games never has and likely never will justify their B12 exit for more SEC TV dollars. And whatever FB success they had in the SEC was with B12 recruits, same deal with aggy.

The SEC is the Texas of conferences! What they do determines what trickles down to everyone else.

Welcome to ESPN's GameDay from this week's SEC campus!

Does this preempt all the panic about the expiration of contracts in a few years?

Isn't more like SEC/Ohio State and the other 3 and 13/14ths conferences?

Or they've just hired the wrong coaches? Maybe it's just that simple...

Which is exactly what espn wants yo do to push the espn+ model just like putting ISU Kansas basketball on it. Which is how it is going to afford the extra money to pay for sec

This is exactly how I'll lose touch because I won't be watching unless the game is "big" enough to find an illegal stream.

I get around
No wonder that Arkansas doesn't have any interest in joining the Big 12. They can be terrible and still have big bucks to try to dig their athletic department out of the hole that it has dug itself in to.
