Typically the lineup gets announced the first week of February, so the 2020 edition should be out soon. Got any predictions/wish lists of who might play this year?

- There are no tour dates listed for Alabama Shakes but I'd settle for just Brittany Howard in support of her solo album.
- Neil Young - Sam Summers' white whale
- Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real
- Black Keys - dream big!
- Blind Pilot
- Leon Bridges
-Mipso
-Wild Rivers
- Birds of Chicago
- Michael Kiwanuka
- Peter Mulvey

I'd also be pretty happy for some alums to come back through - Gary Clark Jr or Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats would both be excellent headliners. And after the show St. Paul and the Broken Bones put on last year they ought to have a standing invitation.

I nearly had a heart attack. I saw this thread, I knew the timing, and I saw Alabama Shakes and Neil Young.

I'm with you. Just let St. Paul play all 3 nights.

Ah, sorry! I'll amend the thread title. Didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up like that.

Ryan Bingham was the first that popped into my head and would love if Gary Clark came back because I missed him in 17. Would love to see Yoakam and St Paul & the Broken Bones come back and would lose my **** if Nathaniel Rateliff was there this year.

I’ve seen Neil Young a few times at a few different places. He puts on his best shows in settings like Hinterland.

I'm hopeful but not counting on it. I just remember a radio interview the show promoter did where he said that Neil Young is his dream booking. You never know, but that's a pretty damn big name to play in the middle of nowhere.

Some of my happy bands that I think are attainable:

- Jenny Lewis
- Michael Kiwanuka
- I agree with Brittany Howard, since Alabama Shakes seems on hiatus
- First Aid Kit
- Sharon Van Etten
- Karen O (we might be able to draw her solo)
- Lord Huron
- Medicine Man Revival
- Benjamin Booker
- Record Company
- Hanni El Khatib
- Alice Bag

I'd LOVE to see Leon Bridges, but think he may have gotten too big. After Gary's three Grammys this year, I fear we can't pull him anymore. Rateliff has his new solo album, so he might do it.

Ryan Bingham would be a fun show! Totally forgot about him.

Rateliff is an interesting one because he just made a solo album that even he describes as "a record that maybe no one's going to love". He made the album after the death of a friend and a divorce, so it's probably going to be a stark difference from what you might expect. If he's still touring solo by then it would still be good but for that setting I'd much rather see him with the full band.

Man, the Grammys really came and went without much attention this year. I didn't even realize they happened until you mentioned them. I guess maybe they just got overshadowed by the Kobe Bryant story breaking on Sunday afternoon. I'd be up for Lord Huron and the Record Company.

I think it put a huge hamper on it. Almost all of the posts I saw were either about the Kobe tribute or the rainbow of terrible attire:

Martin Sexton. Please. Please dear Hinterland Gods. I've seen him a few times at Vaudville Mews and I've seen him in Cedar Rapids. He's not going to headline, but I promise he'll put on one of the best acts of the weekend.

My other hopes and wishes:

Orville Peck - I think he'd be amazing
Head and the Heart - they were phenomenal last time
Vampire Weekend - Saw them at Lolla and they were great
RTJ - I know this would be completely out of Hinterlands wheelhouse...but man they bring the energy
Mythic Sunship - No one would know who they are, but they would jam the hell out of Hinterland
Paul Cauthen - He's gone a hit song or two and fits that country outlaw vibe Hinterland really likes
The Roots - Duh
War on Drugs - A guy can hope, can't he?

Those are bad. I think I recognize one - is that Billie Eilish rocking the Mortal Kombat look?

I'd love to see him live - I've never seen any alerts on him at VM, or I'd have made it! We got my mother-in-law obsessed with "Diner," and then she's become a big fan, also!

It is! She won all of the top awards, and then ripped a man's heart out of his chest, still-beating, afterwards.

I always feel like we crib a few from Bonnaroo and Boston Calling. Looking at the second/third line names, here are a few I wouldn't be surprised to see:

Bonnaroo:
- Mt. Joy
- The Band Camino
- Grace Potter (as a headliner - esp since she is in DSM already this year)

Boston Calling (who also just dropped their lineup a couple of days ago):
- Jason Isbell (again)
- Sharon Van Etten
- Phoebe Bridgers (although she just did 80/35)

I'm a huge Leon Bridges fan - if you like him, try Wesley Bright and the Honeytones:

Very similar sound.
