The data says different.. What game were you watching? 1/6 shooting.. Almost all of his misses are short because he's fading away.. Solo had the good game. Jacobson did not and hasn't all year

Mike might have the largest regression for a P5 starters in the NCAA this year. And he's not coming back, so what the point?
Yes, he has not been terribly good all year, but to state that he hasn't had a good game all year is ridiculous.

I would say that at the very least some of these are good games:
Miss Val St - 20 & 9
Oregon St - 9 & 9
N Ill - 9 & 12 w/ 2a
Mich - 8 & 8 w/ 2b
Bama - 11 & 8
UMKC - 19 & 5, 2a & 3s
Seton Hall(h) - 5 & 10

So you think Bolton should come off the bench?

Here is what I know. We have 5 guys with positive net player ratings (ORtg - DRtg) on the year through Saturday. In order, they are:

1. Haliburton
2. Conditt
3. Lewis
4. Solo
5. Griffin (he is almost even, but statistically produces more than he allows per 100 possessions)

Everyone else, including Bolton, has a negative net player rating. Bolton’s is better than Nixon’s, but not by much. The question is, who can run the point? After what I saw when Haliburton went down, Nixon looked more comfortable there.

I understand my lineup looks crazy.

I remember after those first couples games, I thought Jacobson was in for a huge year

Source for your ORTG and DRTG data?

I did not know you could find DRTG data for college players.

I don't mind Nixon at the point as long as Prohm can keep him from shooting quick 3's. He showed that he can run an offense if he tries. The problem is that he just occasionally feels he needs to throw one up regardless of the situation. Kinda a heat check, but when he's not really hit anything to warrant one.

you're right. And I know it doesn’t seem like it but I don’t hate him. (I even told his mom in the rest room on Saturday that I love watching him and I do.). I just hate that he gets every benefit of the doubt from all of you and his faults are excused when other players namely Jacobson and Nixon get killed.
I don't mind Jacobson or Nixon. My bigger beef was Grill, Griffin and maybe even Jackson playing over Lewis. I like Nixon's defense, toughness and he seems to be our second most reliable ball handler behind Hailburton. He pretty much has to play a lot now for that reason. Lewis has shot the ball pretty well this year when given the chance and does one thing better than anyone on the team, which is move without the ball offensively.

Say what you want about his defense, but Lewis has been the one guard off the bench that has been able to consistently score when given the chance. He is 2nd on the team in pts/40min. behind Bolton, while shooting 54% from the floor and 36% from three. The 54% is second on the team behind Conditt. 36% from three is also second behind Haliburton. That's pretty efficient offense. I like Jackson, Grill and Griffin too.

I think our offensive philosophy has to be (and this hasn't changed since about 8 games in) pound it inside, pound it inside, and take it if the defense doesn't collapse. If they do, kick it out for open threes (or drives into the paint).

that’s a great philosophy but it hasn’t worked because we haven’t been consistent enough shooting. And our best one just broke his wrist.

I disagree, and the announcers made note of it against K State. We go away from getting paint touches in favor of launching jump shots, and we've done that mostly all year. Obviously it all gets harder now without Tyrese, but if you want a recipe where we could have some success, it's push the ball down before the defense gets set, if it does get set, take the ball into the paint as much as possible, eliminate silly turnovers, and defend.

All might be too rough. You are correct. But the +/- data is on my side. He has 1!!!! game this year with a net rating above 1.5.. 6 games above 0.00 and not a single game above 1.0 (positive) in conference play

Here's my theory on Nixon's shooting. I bet if you charted it, he's got a pretty good percentage inside the 3 point line. If I were him, I'd just shoot a bunch of long 2's.

Goodness, Fred just rolled over in his Husker bed.

Also as good as Nixon was down the stretch the dribble for 15 seconds, step back, contested long 2 that he took at one point might be the worst shot I've seen attempted this season and that's saying something.
