No, you didn't at all. I asked how tall you think a player needs to be to guard the 3. You didn't attempt to answer that.
I don't know why you're coming at me like this. Best case scenario for everybody involved is Steve works out here. I've said before I think he has done things that we would all like ISU coaches to do off the court, they just haven't. I think he's a good guy. My own personal feelings about what I want to happen and what I think will happen are different, that's all.
It's more of a "Why did we have 5 players who weren't good enough to play in the Big 12 in the first place" Kind of deal. Especially when 3 of them were just recruited last season.
Maybe it has been published why Grill left. I think you are making a big assumption that Prohm was the reason. Maybe Grill didn't like ISU, maybe he was homesick, maybe it was academics, maybe it is a hometown girl, maybe he wants to play football.
My point is life can be complicated- so I wouldn't assume it was a CSP issue

IMO replacing Grill's role might be the least important recruiting need. Based on freshman year, I see Jackson's game similar to Donovan Jackson. A 6'1" CG. So I feel Bolton & Jackson will fight for minutes at the SG position. If Dubar or Blackwell can get in the mix at SG great.
Our biggest needs are PG and athletic 4. We need a Ejim/Hogue/Gilstrap type guy who can score inside or out and avg. 6-8 rpg.
That would be great, but I generally feel it's best not to count on true freshman for major minutes. I would prefer we find our Ejim/Hogue form JUCO or immediate eligible transfer.
Donovan Jackson was pretty good. Bolton doesn’t look like he was a bad pickup.
We already have four freshman coming in, and it isn’t exactly the time of the year to recruit freshman. Sure there will be some stragglers, but adding some upperclassmen would be more ideal.
IMO one of Prohm's mistakes was relying on grad transfers instead of JUCO's. IMO there is far more talent available and signing a guy is based on strong relationships developed over time. Then you have a guy for 2 years.
Grad Transfers are a crap shoot, you have them for 1 year and then have to bring in another new kid.
ISU has had great success with JUCO's- Jackson, Hogue, McGee.
I sort of hope he turns into the Scott Drew of ISU rough beginning then a long pretty successful career.
Unfortunately for schools like ISU neither is the grad transfers market. Schools like KU, Kentucky, etc are now players. So schools like ISU are forced to take 2nd/3rd tier guys. Still a better option than banking a scholarship
I feel a strength of this staff is building a relationship with recruits over an extended period. So we can recruit the best spring JUCO signees over the fall/winter.
That doesn't preclude going after elite grad transfers, if a guy takes immediate interest in ISU.
My guess it won't matter next spring because transfers will be eligible immediately and the rage will be package deals! Players building their own elite teams like the NBA!
No, Hawks are front runners. Enough issues we don't need with everything else.
I don't think they are anywhere close to being front runners. Iowa State is pretty close to the front I would guess.
Lol. Scott drew walked into being coach at Baylor with the top players leaving the program, scholarship and recruiting sanctions/reductions, no post season play allowed. 7 years of probabtion.
3 years in they could only play conference games. He walked into may the shittiest possible situation imaginable for a coach. A player literally murdered another player.
By year 5 they made the NCAA and Baylor hasn't had a losing record since.
Here is the terrible hardship prohm walked into. 6 future NBA players and one light recruiting year by hoiberg that prohm failed to fill. I get that some of these players weren't NBA ready while In college, but there is a reason Scott Drew had a rough start at Baylor, and it wasn't because of him.
Has any coach in the history of ISU basketball been handed a better situation?
Edit: wanted to add I agree with the sentiment. The best thing for ISU hoops is for prohm to figure this out ASAP and do great things.

I've had that thought both on the coach and player side. Coaches are going to have to take some risk and grab guys. On the player side with unknown how long this situation could last it feels like there is a risk that some are going to walk away from a scholarship and get lost in the mix.
