I agree but...........

.....should it then not be in the cave? And if not.......what is the purpose of even having a cave?
Probably, but there's this obsessive need to have an open-access place to discuss COVID, so this is what you get. At the same time people complain it's political, because... it is. It inherently has to be.

Clearly this is a topic that is front on many peoples minds and is going to be discussed regardless - the decision was made that it's worthwhile to have a non-cave thread in addition to the ones in the politics forum.

If I told you that wearing either the N95 or the surgeon masks are a waste of time.....do you feel the need to "inherently" interject politics?

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/21/politics/florida-unemployment-benefits-processing/index.html

This is just an example but unemployment benefits are a major problem across the entire nation. Only a small percentage of people filing are actually receiving any benefits.
I know someone here in Iowa that filed for unemployment. was accepted got his information about how much he would receive but then when the day comes he doesn't get anything and this has happened for 3 weeks in a row and he can't get through to anyone when he calls.

Completely up to the owners on what they want to allow or not.

It doesnt matter though, something tells me I'm going to have a whole LOT of fun the next few days.

Are you currently doing appraisals? Just asking because our refinance is on hold because we were told appraisers don't want to go in peoples houses.

Believe it or not there are actually people that are doing better off now than they were before the pandemic. Getting $600 per week after taxes is a decent income compared to what some people were making before.

It's not after taxes. Taxes are withheld on unemployment and unemployment is taxable.

That would seem to be more objectively wrong via science than politics, so... no, not on something that narrow?

It's not really possible to have a conversation of meaningful depth about the pandemic without inherently invoking a political discussion, as the political entities that be are the main points of responsibility for COVID response, so that's more the issue at hand.

Most people aren't receiving anything.
Well if that’s true that is definitely a problem. I would imagine they’ll be paid back for previous weeks, or at least I hope so. but even if they do in the interim I can imagine that would be very difficult.

It's true. Check the link I posted previously. A large percentage of people in this country that need assistance aren't receiving it.

Well no.....the N95's allow more than the acceptable %5 of small virions to pass, and the surgeon masks do next to nothing in protecting the user from the environment.

So people aren’t receiving 600 net? And if they aren’t do you know what amount they are receiving?

If they elect to not have any withholdings then they will get $600, but they will have to pay the taxes come tax time. My clients that have applied I told to have withholdings taken out. I can't say what the net amount is that they are receiving because none of them have actually received any money yet and are getting pretty frustrated. They will receive back pay for the weeks they filed and weren't paid once they are approved but that isn't helping them now when they have no money coming in because they had to close their business.
