It will be interesting to see how they treat the Jack Trice and End Zone Clubs...pretty difficult to social distance there. And, if you move folks that have seats in the Clubs to other seats outside do you reduce their ticket prices? Here's hoping that things get closer to normal as the summer progresses...

Have the scientists weighed in yet with the fecal particulate matter that is suspended in the air from flatulence, low-volume toilet water turbulence, and even hand-dryer fans? The air in public restrooms and anywhere basically you can smell another's vapours is a virus breeding ground. Anyone who would even consider going to these football games is anti-science.
Actually yes, it has been evaluated. Public restrooms are seen as a big risk. Lots of people, poor airflow and lots of things to put particles in the air.

I don't think we have any vaccines for any of the known coronaviruses. We still don't have an HIV vaccine. The WHO just warned earlier this week Covid-19 might be endemic. We should be hopeful but it's possible it's many, many years if we ever get a vaccine.

The chances of this are pretty high.

It’s doubtful they’ve done a lot of studies of thousands of people watching for over 3 hours at stadiums. The congestion and proximity durations aren’t your typical outdoor behavior and models much more like being inside a warehouse.

The CDC has been politicized and gutted to a point I wouldn’t blindly believe what they promote. It may be the top priority of the new Administration.

Believing the CDC is fabricating information is top level conspiracy stuff.

While I agree being in a stadium is different than being a park for example, the cases are still extremely low for outdoor transmission.

That's an interesting take...o_O

I would not necessarily say they fabricate info - but they fire those who tell the truth. Data can be selected and manipulated to support what you want it to say.

It's hard to tell what to believe from anyone but the CDC's projections of 200,000 daily cases and 3,000 deaths by June for example hasn't been a good look.

Nobody is going to sit at the top of the stadium when 80% of the stadium below you is empty.
I don't think it would be that hard to enforce 50% capacity. You block off every other row -- no exceptions.
Note that I'm not suggesting that this somehow equates to sufficient social distancing (50% capacity in a stadium will not mean 6 feet between groups). I'm merely stating that it wouldn't be that difficult to keep people from packing in as close to the field as they can get.

It's miles of difference between a predictive model not being correct and tested research about a virus not being correct.

Wasn’t the big outbreak in northern Italy that caused so many problems traced back to a soccer game?

No matter how many are allowed in to JTS or where they are told they can sit, you going to have people that wont cooperate as they feel the the rules to have to apply to them. it’s simply a fact where ever you go.. it will be a nightmare to police, but hopefully the folks that want to see games in person will be able to at least a few of them..

I think that soccer game was still going on while the outbreak was happening which seemed crazy but I don't remember if it was a source.
