Our usual seats are top row of the stadium. The vast majority of people who get a single game ticket up there are gasping for air by the time they get up there. Drunk woman fell on steps on way up and was bleeding from the head. It is an interesting measure of how many people younger than us geezers probably have a lot of morbidity factors that they should be more concerned about. I try very hard not to eat or drink much so I am not making that trek during the game.

I anticipate there will be many angry complaints about seat reassignments.

my only hope is that it causes them to stay home.

I’m a large dude but I found it funny that people seem worried about not eating for 5-6 hours lol
Exactly!

If one is walking in before kickoff, they certainly could eat something before they leave the car. Most folks go 4 to 6 hours between meals all the time.

If folks are coming just for the football--which is the point this season--then some water in a water bottle should do it when there is no tailgating that makes bathroom trips likely happen more often.

I think it is more an issue with people eating at normal times than anything. If I eat a meal right before the game I’m totally fine. I think the big deal is people don’t do well getting off their normal eating schedule.

I am looking at this from a athlete perspective. Having played in some awesome environments and some crappy environments, having no fans at the game would not be exciting and not get me pumped up. Truthfully, running out of the tunnel to no fans would be really blah. Fans help feed momentum and help underdogs win. I will be watching closely how momentum, excitement and underdogs fair this season with the reduced fan numbers.

College kids?

Isn't this a way for some of them to even, um, get through college?

I thought you were talking about kids not eating before the game and needing to eat during the game.

To many themes being discussed and I got confused.

I think it’s weird when people start drinking and they get to about a 7 (high 5’s all around, attempting safish feats of strength and agility) and then BOOM they’re like, let’s go sit down at a restaurant and eat a full meal.

I’m like, “Are we not doing doing the get ****** up thing now? Because 15 minutes ago you were trying hurdle a split rail fence”

Sameee. Whenever that happens, I usually just keep drinking. If I get hungry later, I'll order a pizza.

The DSM Rag being a rag

They are just saying what the White House has said. Iowa State does not have the moral or scientific high ground on this decision. I believe that Jamie thought out the decision as much as he could I don't doubt that he thinks he is doing the right thing. Is he? I am not sure. I hope so.

But Iowa State is allowing the most fans of any school in the Big 12 during the first week. That is an uncomfortable position to be in. This is one case where people criticizing Iowa State's decision are justified. We have to own that.

Also kids. Kids don’t always do what you want them to.

As someone without kids I got a bit of a mask/distancing wake up call when I watched my 12 year old nephew for a few weeks. I'd look away for two seconds and he'd be standing with his face right behind somebody's neck at the grocery store line instead of standing by the marked spots. Definitely not easy, I can't imagine it with even younger kids.

Asking an honest question here.. is there are huge difference between having 25,000 fans and 15,000 fans as far as mitigating the virus goes? If everyone is wearing a mask (as required and failure to do so will be grounds for removal), how much of an effect will that extra 10,000 fans have?
