This isn’t going to work. You may be able to spread them out seating wise, but it’s going to be pointless when everyone gets up to leave at halftime or at the end of the game breathing down everyone’s neck trying to get out of there.
You forget there will be less than half the normal amount of people. Kind of like it took me half the time to get to and from work in April and May because there were fewer cars using the roads.

Does this mean the Rag will not risk Randy to cover the game?

We could only be so lucky. Randy would probably go ask to be infected with the Covid at a clinic just so he could blame ISU for it. Just like the students "pushed him" on the BB court.

For the record, that's a really cool pic of the student section/crowd.

And I'm not sure if this will be a good decision, but anyone who sees those numbers and reads that JT holds 60,000 can come to the conclusion that the crowd won't look like that on 9/12.
Looks like that photo must be at least 13 years old or so since there are a lot of swirly bird logos on shirts/hats.

Edit: The more I look at it, it almost looks photo edited to crop people close together since a lot of the rows don't seem to line up.

That has to be the Iowa game in 2007... maybe 2005

I kept my season tickets with the intent of going to games if they allowed fans but I now may take a wait and see approach about going to the 1st game. The 3 of us that have tickets together decided the other week we were going to games if they allow fans but that was before all this new testing data got factored into the totals and made Ames a hot spot. I'm torn on what to do, I'm considering staying at home for Game 1 and then re-evaluating before the OU game based on what happens. That's enough time to find out how well people follow the mitigation rules put in place and is 3 weeks between games so should be enough data out there to tell if there was any increased spread tied to attending the game.

Personally I think if everyone follows these mitigation guidelines set by ISU the risk is low that attending a FB game is going to be a super spreader. They have tighter guidelines in place than they have at most HS FB games or youth sport events right now where there is less distancing, mask wearing, and possibly concessions being sold than what ISU is setting out to do. Granted we are talking about a lot less people at a HS game to but watch the Friday night FB highlights and tell me how sitting in the HS FB bleachers with many people not wearing masks or properly distancing in some cases so how is that not any worse than what ISU is attempting to do on a larger scale. I've seen people not wearing masks or properly distancing at youth sport events all summer and haven't seen them come under enough scrutiny for it.

What has changed since Monday that would make them reverse their decision? I cant think of anything so I doubt your “rumors”.

I don't know details so I don't know what changed exactly. I suppose national media pressure or the numbers are still exploding possibly. But, no fans at the first game is what I'm hearing
