I'd just like to point out for anyone who thinks Hunter will be a savior, they had a Top 50 freshman point guard as their best player in 2017 and they finished 4-14 that year in the Big 12.
All it tells me is that this kid will probably be in the Prohm doghouse next year.

It looks like Prohm has it in the bag. Counting the Big 12 Tournament, he has 18 league games and the game at Mississippi State.
Without COVID cancellations, there's an easy 17 losses in there.
Forgot about the Big 12 tournament. We definitely pick up 17 Big 12 losses. I'm sure Miss State is a loss without knowing how they are.

the free year applies to seniors only, I believe. also must be progressing toward a degree. In other words, can't just hang around another year and do nothing but play hoops.

I haven't even posted tonight. Tonight was embarrassing. I defend Prohm because he's the coach and me blasting him isn't going to change that.

But yes tonight was a **** show. The one thing I am sick of Prohm doing (or not doing) is not holding guys accountable. The game plan was to get the ball inside to Solo and then play inside out. Well we were just chucking 3's and not even getting the ball inside. Prohm needs to pull the guys from the game who aren't following the game plan and put in someone who will.

Secondly, Rasir's comments about wanting to win when they were down 14 as noted in Stans article. If it takes being down 24 for you to want to win you shouldn't be playing. Unfortunately no one on this team has shown an "attitude" they are all appear to be soft. No one wants to get physical, I get more physical playing with my dogs than these guys do playing basketball.

I will say though everyone who is gushing over Foster and Hunter who also want Prohm fired don't realize that firing Prohm Foster transfers and Hunter isn't coming here.

When I watch Steve stand idly by on the sideline, apparently doing nothing, this is what I find myself thinking:

No, I was trying to point out lunacy. Saying he's recruited too well with the results of the last few seasons is nuts
When guys are leaving after a year or two that most certainly causes roster holes at a developmental program.

I'd just like to point out for anyone who thinks Hunter will be a savior, they had a Top 50 freshman point guard as their best player in 2017 and they finished 4-14 that year in the Big 12.

I believe they had starters like Hans Brase, Jeff Beverly, Freshmen Cameron Lard. That roster was more talent void than the current one. It was brutal.

Foster has a much higher skill set than any eligible player on that 2017 roster. Though if you think a freshmen point guard is going to save the day next year, I would agree not going to happen.

That said when you are rank 317th in rebounds per game that equates to lots of second chances for the other team. I don't care if you are Gonzaga you are going to lose a lot of games

Another problem is that ISU field goal percentage is in the top `100, however their 3 point field goal percentage is closer to 200. You need to let the post players touch it every time. Again Solo and Foster had post position last night and were not fed the ball. Sometimes they had the matchup they wanted with a guard trying to defend, and yet?

Practices should focus on feeding the post and rebounding again and again and again.

There is more than enough talent on this roster to play defense. Get away from the analytics ******** that says you need to throw up a bunch 3 point shots to win. That is not the team you have assembled.

But some coaches cannot adjust and want to put a square peg in a round hole.

Prohm needs to shake things up. We play WVU on Friday night, but after that there are 2 weeks to re-invent this team. During that time we have 2 games against Jackson State & Chicago State. Will be curious if we don't replace the DePaul game with another game between Christmas & New Years.

IMO small ball isn't working for ISU or at least using our 1-4 offense. Our offense is pretty much all about passing the ball around the 3 point line and then relying on guys breaking down their defender off the dribble. There is so little off-ball player movement in our half court offense that opposing defenders can easily guard their man and help against dribble penetration.

Last night we shot 0 free throws in the 1st half! A positive is we shot 16 free throws in the 2nd half. But after 4 games we are 29-40 from the FT line, but opponents are 68-85. We are getting outscored by 10ppg from the free throw line!! Bob Knight always had a goal for his teams to make more free throws than his opponents attempted. Our opponents would have Bob Knight excited, they have made 68 free throws and we have only attempted 40.

We need to dump our perimeter focused offense and go to something where guys are moving off the ball and teammates are setting solid screens. We need ball movement via pass instead of via dribble.
*****

The other big issue is rebounding, opponents are averaging 6.5 more rpg. Pretty evenly split between offensive and defensive rebounding. Sometimes rebounding margin can be misleading based on the number of shots attempted, but so far we are only averaging 2 more shots/game.

IMO we will never be a good offensive rebounding team with 4 guys hanging out on the 3 point line. There needs to be player movement-off the-ball toward the paint.

Maybe starting Dubar is the solution to better rebounding as he averages as many rpg as Solmon Young in 30% fewer minutes. But I would like to see us go big with Foster and Young in the game at the same time. That line up could be a defensive liability, but maybe the solution would be to play some zone. A lineup of Dubar, Foster and Young could be workable since Foster can shoot 3's.

Name a coach that was given a great, good, or even above average team, took that program and finished at the bottom or towards the bottom of the conference that turned things around and was successful again.

You don’t need 7 years to understand if someone is the right guy for the program. Steve Prohm isn’t that guy, that’s obvious.

Watching osu vs tcu. Remember a few years ago when we were head and shoulders above them? They look great tonight.
