We are having an unofficial gamewatch at Maverick’s Sports Bar and Grill in Arlington, Texas on Friday night:
When I called and asked about holding a gamewatch, the first thing Jerry said was, “Hell yeah!” You won’t get that from any of the buttoned-up places near the stadium. Also note that they stocked up on Busch Light and will have bucket specials.
The front is a sports bar and in the back is a live music venue. If you tell them you are a Cyclone fan, they will waive the cover charge. The walls in back are covered with the manager’s vintage posters from the 70’s and 80’s.
Plenty of parking and just a block off a main road through downtown Arlington. It is 1 mile south of AT&T stadium. See link below for directions.
Like so many of us, they are small business owners trying to make it work with the COVID limitations. As far as I know this will be the only place in Arlington that will be flying ISU flags and wearing ISU gear. Hope you will come to cheer on the Cyclones (and Buffalo) and support a local business.
For the record, this event is not affiliated in any way with Iowa State University or CycloneFanatic.com. It is just me and my friends hanging out within the COVID regulations.
