So I am solidly in the depression stage of my grieving process right now. I really settled into the denial stage for a while, thinking that we made it to the championship and thats a major accomplishment... but nah. This one hurts... REAL bad. I'll be over it tomorrow after bowls are announced and whatnot, but this is rough right now..

So I started thinking, when was the last time I took a football loss this hard. For whatever reason, I keep landing on that 2005 Nebraska loss. We should have won that game. Leaders had the interception hit him in the chest in OT to win that game. That one hurt for days. How about you?

I'm sad, too....the racing feeling I had that last drive......turned to anger....now sad.

For me, most recent probably the failed 2pt conversion vs Nebraska in 2010.....at the time and for a long time I couldn't get the site of that ball floating slowly and the Nebraska guy plucking it out of the air (the angle at the game I had was perfect to see it)

none other come close in my opinion. We had a chance to win the Big 12 championship and came up just short. This one will sting until next year.

Its weird. I didnt take the loss that hard.

I kind of accepted it when we were solidly down and was just glad we made it close at the end, though of course i wish we would have won.

I also think it hurts less when all signs are we should be plenty good in the future. Hopefully we can make it back next year.

After all of the bad games, season tickets purchased with no chance of using, donations, grief...

Getting to the Championship.....We were playing with house money at that point.

My glass is not only half full but spilling all over the goddam counter. The present and future is bright

While I agree, ban this poster for writing that school’s name.

Runner up: The blare game

I didn't know how to do it without just saying it. I had rationalized away the loss to a bad Baylor team in the Big 12 tournament and assumed ISU was prepared to avenge the previous season ender to MSU. Never saw it coming, and had the realization before it was over that the following season was not going to be good with all they lost. That one felt like the END.

Today, not so much.

I think ultimately what hurts the most is that we fought back and I had gotten myself prepared for the the winning drive, everything. I think the last time I hurt this much from a game? I think it was the Purdue game, that's what this reminds me of.

I went and bought my first pack of cigarettes ever in my life. This team has become such a pillar of Iowa State, their work ethic and attitudes are so inspiring. I am bummed with the outcome, but still amazed with every single player on this team. We are competing with OU guys, think about the last time we beat OU before Kyle Kempt did.

Unfortunately, this played out almost exactly like I expected. The only thing i missed on was us missing a field goal to lose. I was prepared for this loss.
