Trickle down could easily affect ISU. Ryan leaving OSU, as an example, for Lions would not be good.

I don't think tOSU would consider Campbell at this point if Day left. We all think the world of Campbell and his prestige nationally rises year after year, but just like those guys on the USC forum said - he's averaged 7 wins a year and hasn't beat his team's chief rival. While those are both stupid metrics when you dig further in, its still not appealing to blue blood schools and their fan bases at this point.

I just don’t see Campbell ever going to the NFL to be honest. I think he genuinely enjoys coaching and mentoring these young kids. I would be way less shocked IF he ever leaves seeing it be for a “higher profile” university. That being said, I think he wants that at ISU!

Im glad the Browns seem to be improving year over year.

...who else would they get, though?

Promote somebody from within again?

Bring Luke Fickell back?

Go after an NFL guy, especially somebody like Mike Vrabel?

For some reason I think NW worries me the most if it comes open. Hopefully coach is really in love with what he is building at Iowa State.

How so? I mean recruiting isn't any easier there, is it? Or are you just assuming to coach in the Big10 west division is an easier route to a conf-championship game?

NW has an AD vacancy too (just became commish of the ACC). My doomsday scenario is JP moves to take over as AD and brings Campbell with.

That organization is a disaster. Khan hiring a GM and then wanting to micromanage the roster?

Los Angeles appears to have a promising young QB. That's the best job right now.

According to Over the Cap, the Chargers have the seventh-most cap space in the NFL heading into 2021. The problem is that the team has only 34 players on the roster and has several key free agents, such as Hunter Henry, Melvin Ingram, Michael Davis and Rayshawn Jenkins, among others.

Those players, mixed with the 2021 draft class, are going to eat away at the cap. If the team wants to make any sort of addition in the offseason, which is needed, then they are going to have to waive players with small dead cap hits. Names such as Trai Turner and Casey Hayward come to mind.

There is another potential candidate in Mike Williams. Williams is playing under his fifth-year rookie option in 2021 that is worth $15.6 million. If they cut him before June 1, there is no dead cap hit.

After the great showing from Tyron Johnson on Thursday night football and the fact that Williams has not been able to stay healthy, it has become a legitimate question of whether or not the LA Chargers should cut him next season.

Are people just saying places that have openings now or what? Boise State and Marshall are both open, I'm certainly worried he may go to either of those places.

Not yet, anyway. If he can bring home a Big 12 Title and make another New Years 6 appearance, he’d probably feel like he’s leaving the program in a good place and is ready for the next challenge. And we would have no hard feelings.

His next challenge will be winning another Big12 title, and reloading the roster, and winning a playoff game, and winning a national championship, among other goals.

He's a massive NFL fan. Cleveland Browns. Along with a lot of the staff that came with him from Toledo.
Not saying he's bound for the pros at all, but I don't think you can assume anything. I guarantee he's pictured himself there at one time or another.

A lot of people are NFL fans. You don’t think college coaches grew up cheering for an NFL team?

LMFAO! Why in the hell would you think he would leave for that job?

I don't feel that he is likely to leave for NW or any of the jobs we currently know are open. NW seems similar to ISU culturally in that they know how to develop kids and play a style that allows them to win. For some reason I think he might favor being closer to home in the Big 10 also. I don't really know what his goals are though.

Of course they do. And I expect that if given the opportunity, a lot of them would seriously consider an NFL job. That's my point. Just because someone seems well suited to the college game, doesn't mean they haven't considered or wouldn't consider a pro job.

Fred ruined this fan base didn’t he? Him going from Iowa State, to Chicago, to Nebraska makes people think being close to the home town is the most important thing in a coaches life.
