K-State pre-Snyder and ISU pre-Campbell is the analogy I'm trying to draw. Heck, you could throw Iowa pre-Fry onto that list. They didn't have much going until he showed up, too.
I agree and ksu was a worse situation (when synder arrived) than Iowa State. Iowa was the worse division I program for two decades (60's-70's).

I don't follow NFL stuff so idk. I just was saying it could make things more enticing to him.

When has a HC ever gotten his first NFL HC job AND GM duties? If the Dolphins would have done that with Saban, he’d probably still be there. He wanted Brees but the GM wanted Culpepper. He wanted to draft a WR(can’t remember if it was Calvin or Fitzgerald or maybe someone else that ended up great)but the GM took his own guy who was a bust. And obviously Ricky Williams did his whole thing.

But yeah, I could be wrong but I don’t think any college HC has ever jumped to NFL HC/GM before ever having any NFL experience.

Somewhat related ...I'd love CW or someone else to do a piece on sources, etc. It fascinates me...like clearly sometimes stuff gets out on purpose....but if a source shared stuff they shouldn't, you know CMC would be pissed.....we all remember the Hines vs Hoiberg beef....sources....lol

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Campbell was the source - poor form for him to go in the record, but it’s a good way to stop the chatter. If you read between the lines on Hines’ piece and the aftermath, Hoiberg was pretty clearly one of his sources for that piece.

For all that Johnny did, he did not deserve to go out that way.

I heard Johnny speak at one of his last Cyclone Club events. He alluded to what he was given to leave, including alluding to getting a new house out of it( full disclosure I have no idea what he actually received or didn’t), and said “you $#*%ers would have taken it too if they offered it to you!” My point being he made it sound like he wasn’t thrown to the curb. Johnny wanted to coach the team through their senior year and to have pick his replacement (Hallihan).

Not what Toledo said.

I’m not going to look it up, but I’m assuming those coaches he idolized coached at other schools before staying at their first P5 school. They didn’t just land those jobs out of thin air.

Like them, he turned around a P5 school, built something, and will sustain it.

Would be surprised all these guys are coming back if they thought Campbell was leaving.

would not be shocked to see him go to the nfl at some point, but the jets isn’t the right job. Maybe the packers or the Titans or something, not the jets.

Plus nfl jobs always come up, he can wait till the right one comes open.
