Who got the better deal?:rolleyes::cool:

not to discount your point up there but the cost difference of construction between 1971 and 1983 makes up for the difference between the two (meaning if you build Hilton in 1983, it would cost about the same as carver). Regardless, you’re correct in calling it a plastic covered hole in the ground.

If they 'cost' the same ... point stands, who got the better deal?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...ate-basketball-melvin-ejim-48-points/5320091/ In the Zone.

Melvin was a great player for us. He averaged 10.3 pts as a Freshman, then 9.3, 11.3, and as a Senior really flipped the switch with 17.8 pts/game.

Here is my favorite, my oldest boy wearing a hat signed by Allan Lazard that he got from media day while meeting his favorite football player.

Good lord. Taylor was 436 lbs against Dietrich's 260 lb
Chris was described as a gentle giant. From all accounts he was a great guy. Used to wrestle two guys at once. If you can catch 100 years of Cyclone wrestling they talk about him. The Cyclones had 3 Olympians in '72. Taylor, Gable and Ben Peterson.

I only put this here because I've heard Paul make fun of himself for crying. But ya gotta love his heart.

Chris Taylor was a bouncer at Granddaddy’s. I heard he used a pitcher as his beer mug & looked like a regular mug in his hand

This is 100% true. A pitcher did look like a mug in his hand although I saw him drinking that way at the old Cave Inn. Still remember that and thinking "Damn!'.

I waited to see whether this thread would be active long enough that I could sneak in two of my favorite photos. This was long ago in the time when you could wait in Hilton after games for the players to come out and pose for pictures. Anyone else remember these guys?
