We also shot 33!!!! FT's compared to their 12. We made 26 compared to their 8.

That's right. I just recalled it being a ugly, kind of wonky game. The kind where you won, but you didn't necessarily feel great about it (although, I'd gladly take that kind of win nowadays...).

That’s not the point I was making. It was a good enough win that it should’ve been a confidence booster for the young guys and something to build from. But instead they got skullf*cked by Iowa and lost to FAMU. And here we are.

I'd agree that there was a near-insurmountable amount of goodwill lost in that 2 week stretch. Embarrassed by your rival, biggest statistical upset in CBB history, inept loss, 26 point loss to KU.

I think the combination of getting blown out Iowa, having the worst loss in school history vs. FAMU, and TCU banking in a 3 at the buzzer were soul crushing losses that essentially sent the season into a spiral.

It sucks but good coaches don't allow those combination of things to happen imo.

Losing to FAMU at Hilton was absolutely, positively unexcusable. That's a fire him on the spot deal.

It is the equivalent of walking in to work, taking off your pants, and taking a huge dump right in the middle of the floor in front of everyone while signing Wrecking Ball. You are fired, escorted off the premises, and they will mail you your personal effects.

What happened in that TCU game? I recall we should have won and would have gotten us of to a good start in conference play but something weird happened at the end.

It certainly was wonky, however I think it's fair to say that something changed in the beginning of the year that took our team from competitive to awful. I mentioned it was the combination of the Iowa, FAMU, and TCU losses. They were all so emotionally taxing in their different ways.

If I remember correctly there was a foul/defend scenario where we didn't foul and they hit a deep 3.

Should’ve won, but RJ Numbnuts (who had a great game) drilled a 3 in the closing seconds

With 8 seconds left, RJ got a (moving) screen at the "T" on their center court, he took two dribbles to get to the "U" and banked in a prayer. Conditt didn't contest it because he didn't want to get called for a foul, which was actually smart.

I always foul up 3 with that amount of time left.

I believe there was only 1 person that believed it was possible Prohm is brought back if we win 1-2 more games this year (it was not me). Everyone else is arguing whether Prohm would be brought back if he wins out (interesting question, yet entirely hypothetical and impossible).
If he wins out he is absolutely brought back. We would finish 10-11 and 8-8 in the conference. It might not be the best long term for the program but he would absolutely get another year.
To me the more interesting, and realistic, scenario is a 4-4 finish with a couple wins against TCU, and a couple wins against the likes of Oklahoma/Kansas/Oklahoma State. In that situation we are 6-15 and 4-12 in the conference but you have an uptick at the end of the year. I think JP might holdover the Prohm team one more year of that situation arises. I think he would do so even if it alienates some of the boosters and donors knowing full well that he is going to get their Cyclone Club donations because of Football.

Alienating big money boosters to keep a 4-12 coach in his sixth season is not a hill I would choose to die on.

So.. anyone know what our longest conference losing streaks are?

We're sitting at 12 now and I only assume that'll be 14 after back to back games with KU.
