Preformed onion rings aren’t onion rings, Jfc! They’re ground up onions(?) with some thick breading pressed out in a circle.
I buy these

I haven't found a good non hyvee liquor store in the metro. Central City is truly good for liquor. The one in Urbandale sucks. The one in Grimes sucks too

One of the few things I miss about Dubuque - Sid's Liquor Store in Dubuque and Van's Liquor and Family Beer and Liquor in East Dubuque. Family Beer is especially fantastic.

Family Beer lol. They have that new toddler seltzer that all the 4 year olds are talking about at pre-school?

When it comes to onion rings, do people like the breaded or the batter? I prefer batter because I hate when the little pieces of breading crumbs falls all over the place and makes a small mess.

I think the Fareway meat counter provides a good experience, no doubt about it. But the best way to get restaurant grade beef and pork in Iowa is to go directly through a locker from a livestock producer who knows how to finish beef. Still far and away the best product for the money.

There's no such thing as a GMO onion that's why the Non-GMO label is stupid
Could be the breading. Dont care about the label or what is or isnt GMO, I just go off taste.

Last summer we started getting milk and egg delivery from Sheeder Cloverleaf Dairy. Shortly after the pandemic started they started up delivery and have added options for beef and pork from local producers as well. It's neat have a cooler box on the porch that we get fresh stuff delivered in every week. Crazy that type of service used to be the norm and is making a comeback. I'd highly recommend it if you're wanting to support some local to the Des Moines area folks.

Yep you wind up eating hot onion and batter separately

I only prefer that so I have an excuse to throw away the onion and only eat the breading without my wife judging me. Same is true of chicken strips - I’m good if it’s just greasy, salty fried batter.
