I thought 141 looked interesting also. 197 and 165 are the weights that really stick out to me though.

At 165: Wittlake as the 10 seed? The 8 could have easily been the 2, but lost to Valencia H2H. The bottom half that bracket is tough. Also...Marinelli’s path is pretty brutal as well, with former National Champ Mekhi Lewis the 4 seed.

197: I think everyone is in agreement that 197 is deep. You bring up Real Woods as the 21 seed at 165. I saw some chatter about a potential Coleman/Warner matchup in the 2nd round. Well...Nick Reenan is the 28 seed (Warner’s 1st round opponent) at 197! Not your typical 28 seed.
Real is 21 seed at 141, I believe

I don’t think you can realistically see more than one guy winning heavy at this point.
197 I think is the most wide open. Maybe 149 as well. Aside from that I don’t think there is a weight that has more than 2-3 true contenders.
agree...unless there is a good official that isn't afraid to ding him for multiple unsportsmanlike penalties His B10 final was a disgrace!

Gets a quarters match with Sugar Shane as well. Couldn't happen to a better guy. All jokes aside I like Marinelli. "Eli's Story" on BTN sold me.

Looks like it was just the 2 withdrawals:

WTWITHDREWREPLACEMENT
149#32 Andrew Alirez (NCOL)#33 Cameron Hunsaker (UVU)
[Gaxiola moves up 1 to #32]
157#27 Justin Ruffin (SIUE)#33 Wyatt Sheets (OKST)
[#28-33 move up 1 line]

2 Big12 replacements. Wyatt Sheets could end up winning a match or 2.

So jacked to see our guys go this week. In particular, I’m looking forward to the blood round. It might be chalk full of Cyclones, and tremendously exciting. Assuming Carr makes the semis, we could have five or six guys in it.

David has a real shot at the final on the bottom of the bracket. He is quicker and more athletic than Hidlay. Hidlay is better technically right now so he just needs to keep the pressure on.

Agree, and then has a chance to get Deakin and win it all, in spite of Deakin appearing to out weigh him by 20lbs. How that guy makes weight is one of the great mysteries in modern sports.

I think you are underrating Hidlays athleticism. That kid is a heck of an athlete.

I think david is also stronger than people think. Especially this year. You can really tell when he’s riding guys.

Exciting? I’d say nerve racking, panic inducing.

Carr has some pretty good guys to get through to the semis. The wrestler I think has the best draw is Gremmel. Really doesn't hit a guy he cant beat until the semis.

I dont like how the bracket really clustered Big12 guys. A whole lot of hits in the second round and also some in the first. 197 is the most egregious. The Big 12 is as deep as anyone there and we have Ferrari/Sloan and Buchanan/Adams as second round matchups. I would love to see Coleman win his opener and stick Warner though.

I’ve never seen anything that makes me think Gremmel could beat Stencel in the quarters.

Stencel is a monster but he has had similar profile wins to Gremmel this year. I think good match planning can get him through. I think Parris and Steveson are next level though. If Gannon AAs it would be great and he has a great chance to do that.
