So far there are 115 comments, and 350 people have voted on this poll. 17.5% want TJ. Hard for me to believe that the people who have access to Jamie's ear would be to thrilled on a TJ hire.

Well, that's about 1 out of 6 people picking one guy vs the universe. When the universe includes Fred, Altman, Belein, Matta, etc etc. TJ might actually might be the most popular choice...

You do realize that "the Field" means EVERYBODY ELSE so 17.5% of the voted went to one guy and the rest are divided among the world right? 17.5% versus the Field is a big number.

Guess I should mark Craig Smith off the list. His best player is the big man from Portugal. Craig Smith inherited Queta from the previous Coaching Staff. Can’t count Utah State’s success now. Winning with the other guy’s players.

One HUGE fish would want TJ.

I think he may be the best all around candidate we could get, but the risk is that he has not done it for very long. I agree that it may not matter, he is going to be the hottest option next year if somebody doesn't take him now. And maybe he prefers that.
Yeah that's the thing, with Gates you are going all in on the flop. Thinking the turn and river are going to be good to your hand.

Like you said he might want to stay where he is, because he is bringing the best recruiting classes in the conference and seems poised to run that league. In a year he may have some bigger programs willing to back up the brinks truck.

If Im grading the hire, TJ is a C+, the staff he puts together could bump him up but it's an easy hire for JP, the fanbase is so down, anyone new will generate excitement. If he lands a couple of decent transfers this spring, the kool aid will be flowing.

Fully understand that, but it could also be read as TJ or anyone else. Id be curious to what it would be with any other name. My point is TJ is not moving the needle amongst this fanbase.

Horizon League to the Big 12? Isn’t the Horizon League like a notch below the Ohio Valley Conference? Are you serious?

Stop making up ****.
Queta was a Smith recruit. Great spring recruiting. That’s the type of evaluator of talent we need. Smith also got him to return this year.

I misread the poll question because I voted field. Though it was who we thought it would be.

Guess I'm in the big time minority here:
Want: TJ
Will be: Field

Nobody mentioned in the 'field' really intrigues me other than maybe DeVries and I don't know enough about him and the Drake program yet. I don't want an old-timer like Altman or Belein and am rather soured on the mid-major hot shot after Prohm. Don't think Fred would put himself through it again, nor would I want him to.

I somehow missed what everyone's knock is on TJ other than he's friends with Jamie. I remembered he was pretty well liked here and people thought he kind of got the shaft at the time both Fred and Steve were hired.

TJ is a great recruiter, who has had success at a mid-major and experience at a larger school that has a basketball history. I don't think he's had time to show what he can achieve at UNLV yet.

What other AD's are looking to hire him? What does JP know that no other AD knows?

Podcast said the Coaching Staff that TJ was planning on bringing in last time was impressive.

How has Iowa State done hiring b-ball coaches that other schools wanted? Prohm and McD were a couple of the hottest names in the country when they were hired. TJ know the job and he knows what it takes to get guys to come to Ames. I would be 100% fine with the hire.

Yes like I said, you are hiring him before he gets big. He was a long time assistant at Florida st and one of their top recruiters.

Came into Cleveland st after they been a tire fire for years. Convinced the players to stay instead of transferring out. Predicted to come in last by a mile. Came in 7th out of 12.

Won coach of the year his first season.

2nd year he wins the conference, wins conference tournament, and brings in the best recruiting class in the conference.

Wins coach of the year again.

He very may just want to stay where he is because he he wins the conference again he might be the first call to many programs.

Prohm couldn’t even get the Bama job in 2015. You’re overstating the demand for Prohm
