I want TJ as the next coach and it has nothing to do with whether he is friends with Jamie, how long it takes to hire him, whether he was the choice last time or anything other than I think he is the best choice long-term for Iowa State. Prohm was the longest tenured coach at ISU since Orr. My first year at ISU was in 1994 and our next coach will be our 8th coach in that timeframe. I think TJ is the best choice to end this constant turnover of coaches.
Faulty logic. The coaches since Orr have been:
Tim Floyd - Left for the NBA
Larry Eustachy - Fired
Wayne Morgan - Fired
Greg McDermott - Left to avoid being fired
Fred Hoiberg - Left for the NBA
Steve Prohm - Fired
Your argument seems to be that he has enough of a tie to ISU that he wouldn't choose to leave. But four of the six didn't "choose" to leave. The two that did, went to the NBA, and one of those, it could be argued, had more ties to ISU than TJ. So it does come down to who has the best chance to do well at ISU, not who would choose to stay if allowed to. There are enough posts on who the best candidate is to do well that I won't address that, maybe it is TJ maybe it's not, but we shouldn't hire somebody because they would stay if given the choice.
