Quickly paraphrasing from CW:
"If you watched UNLV basketball this year, and I watched every one, that was not TJ's style of play. [Long explanation on roster turnover forcing style of play to be slow.] Once he gets his guys it will be similar to Hoiball."

Anybody else find the line from Pollard about how on any given night 150 D1 teams can lose and it’s impossible for everybody to win a little strange?

Basically what he said (reading between the lines). Nobody else worth a damn wanted it, TJ is cheap and wants to be here.

These are bad reasons why...?

Worked with Hoiberg.

He wanted to be here (in 2011, at least) and was cheap (to start).

No. It’s not that. We will never have a season under T.J. where we fail to win a game or finish in last place in the conference. Under CSP we finished in 9th or 10th 50% of the time. Sort of amazing.

10th place will be in play next year. Hell, the last coach that won us the Big 12 finished in 9th or 10th 60% of the time.

They just talked about this on the CF stream.
First call is Rasir Bolton, second call is Xavier Foster, and third is Tyrese Hunter.

Locking up those 3 would be a home run. Bringingone or two UNLV players/recruits would be a grand slam. That 4 star they have coming in the 2021 class is exactly the kind of guy the CF crybaby wing cries for all of the time.

Yeah, that was weird.

Otherwise though, to be honest, I like both videos that he put out this week; they were amateur-ish enough to the point where I felt they were really honest. They weren't slickly produced, and I thought some of his at time halting speech, accidentally calling San Diego State South Dakota State really lent a touch of authenticity to them that I found refreshing.

I think he will get a great roster. One because even the people not excited about this hire know he is a great recruiter.

But it’s the coaching that worries me.
Agree, I am confident he will get the player, my concern is whether he will stress defense and rebounding enough. However, I have always believed at getting good players is 75% of the equation and coaching is the other 25%. Getting talent does not guarantee success, but if you don’t get the talent, you don’t have the opportunity to be successful. Talent identification is also critical. Just ask CMC.

Not Jenkins and Grill. Don't know much about the recruit. Put him along 4 star Foster and 4 star Hunter that might be a good start.

I don't see this ever happening again. Fred was the pioneer in this. Now? We'd have no shot at a Royce White type. The blue bloods would swoop that right up based on talent alone.

Fred was the pioneer that people like Self saw make it work and completely changed how they viewed their rosters. Fred is now a victim of his own success because he has no shot at getting those same level of kids to Lincoln.

I don't think you get a Royce transfer to a struggling program away from bluebloods easily...but I do think you can find the Hogue type of player to plug in to fill a weakness in the roster.

Royce was actually still a bit of an unknown in several ways. We had guys like Kane, Clyburn and Shayok who were virtual can't miss transfers with an incredibly high floor.

Yep.

Did you know Nerlens Noel was teammates with current ISU legend Georges Niang?

High school teammates can go to different schools...
No ****, but with the coach he committed changing to the school a current teammate is commited to obviously would help our chances.

I thought the whole presser was odd. Never seen an AD go to those lengths to explain his hiring decision to the fan base. However, I get why he felt that he needed to do i.
