And frankly, recruits at the level he'll need will probably go somewhere that's winning.
He's got maybe two years to sell them on a vision and get results, or he'll live in the basement every year here.
Will Iowa State ever recruit better than Kansas or Texas? Maybe in a one off class, but probably never year over year. I understand that TJ is probably the best choice for keeping talent/getting more quickest. But Iowa State needs to win in other areas to reach the heights we want the program to. Hoping TJ puts together an all star staff who can get it done.

East of Neptune, IA.
After watching JP's announcement video I would have to say this was the worst 'sales' effort I've seen him give.
I don't have an issue with the reasons JP gave for giving TJ the job, but his unbelievable explanation of the 'process' was simply laughable. At the end of the day, JP admitted he interviewed nodody besides TJ. Didn't hire any search firms. He obviously wanted TJ from the beginning but wanted to sell us some phony 'process'. The 300 team W/L math line was 2nd grade level. Insulting to Cyclone fans.

IMO the TJ hire is certainly not spectacular nationally, but simply OK. A known quantity and comfortable for Pollard.
I just wish JP could have just been honest and said-- "I knew a couple of months ago that we needed to go in a different direction. I also knew who I wanted to replace Steve with. But we needed to let the season come to a conclusion before making the move."
That was the real process, IMHO. Just say it. And-- he forgot the fist pump with the "Go Cyclones."

Swirl on.

A lot don't relize how far we have fallen in the past 2 years. This is a very large rebuild if Hunter isn't in Ames next year. TJ may be the best option to keep him. That alone could be a program changer

Don’t understand this comment. He committed to Prohm. So isn’t Hunter alone more a status quo?

I will like this hire a lot more with Lutz returning to Ames. Think he is a fantastic assistant. Can we find a coach that can teach post play? Not a stretch 4, and actual post. Or, be still my heart, a double post? Can you imagine having flexibility depending on matchups and cold 3 point shooting nights? Or being actually good and focused on rebounding, which is where you actually win the close games?

In my 30ish years with Iowa State, I can't think of a single hire that was this lazy and underwhelming.

I've been a heavy defender of Pollard until today. I could look past tucking windbreakers into black jeans and being overly preachy to the fanbase because he got results, but this is just too damn much.
This is something you notice? Lol!
