i dont think either steve or fred enjoyed the action, they both got nervous in game and it showed on the players

tj loves the action, like izzo, from what i can tell

One of the main talking points during Hoiberg's tenure was his calm demeanor kept his players calm. Prohm's body language was awful. And don't get me started on his contrived motivational technicals. Hoiberg's style worked because it was his personal identity. Prohm never had one.

I will like this hire a lot more with Lutz returning to Ames. Think he is a fantastic assistant. Can we find a coach that can teach post play? Not a stretch 4, and actual post. Or, be still my heart, a double post? Can you imagine having flexibility depending on matchups and cold 3 point shooting nights? Or being actually good and focused on rebounding, which is where you actually win the close games?
I read the Lutz comments as him seeking a head job and not another asst role

Prohm never seemed to have concrete ideas, just spoke with cliche after cliche.

If TJ can give thoughtful answers in post game interviews and if he can keep the ball from sticking in a players hands for long stretches, I'm in

He wasn't an assistant like a regular assistant.

"When I agreed to join Fred at Nebraska as Special Assistant, there was positive momentum in the NCAA for allowing an additional person to actively coach during practice and games. That has not happened."

Calm the **** down, my goodness. So many of you acting like children. Holy **** this fan base sometimes.
Many already in the surrender cobra position...not even giving them a shot. Many on here were crapping on the school when Fred was hired.

After boosting the football staff salaries, COVID reductions, etc. there just isn't the option of spending big $'s. Hell, our annual athletic revenue is $56M smaller than Iowa's...the difference alone is 2/3rd's of our entire revenue stream. Hard to even compete with that.

So Jamie went with someone that is familiar with the university, isn't going to cost an arm and a leg, and could even succeed. Should Jamie have gone with a hot mid-major? The Utah State coach is already in a bidding war between Minnesota and Utah, both of which have greater revenue streams than Iowa State. How about an assistant coach...high risk/reward. Jamie pushed the easy button and the program can now move forward.
