By the end of year 2 we will know if this is going to work out. I know everyone gets like 4 years but you can see based on how the team performs, culture and identity. Doesn't necessarily mean W/L but you just know you know.

I think a good amount of us were pretty confident we knew how McDermott, Hoiberg and Prohm were going to be after 2 years. Looking back, several of us were probably right. (Full disclosure I was WAY wrong on Prohm but right on the others)

I think some of you people whose posts I just cheerfully marked “dumb” are missing a crucial point. Something that Jamie slipped into that video. Separating the wheat from the chaff of all the stuff on that video.

They reached out to a lot of candidates. Their camps said “no thanks”.

Why? That’s easy to explain.

Remember when Tim Floyd was hired? All of that returning talent was an enticement. That’s the whole reason Johnny was nudged out when he was.

Coaches want to go where they can have either immediate success, or success fairly quickly. This roster doesn’t offer much promise of that.

Mainly, because it was set up for Prohm’s four guard system. Second, because the new coach will really need to rerecruit Tyrese Hunter (and Nunn) to help solve those turnover issues. Those ain’t just gonna go away.

Yep, the roster issue goes on more than that, but that’s the main reason. Oh, and a tight salary package available to offer. Jamie slipped that in there, too.

T.J. Is different because he’s willing to take on the risk of that first year hit. The challenge it indicates. Because he knows exactly what Iowa State and Ames, Iowa has to offer.

And that’s the reason he’s the right guy for the job right now.

Go Cyclones!

Maybe they said no thanks because they knew this deal was likely in the works for a month as was reported and they knew they were being used as props in the charade.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just read that Jayden Nunn is teammates with Kaluma, which could help retain Nunn or maybe add Kaluma.

I am hopeful on that, but honestly not expecting to get Kaluma. Would be great, but I have a feeling that Ames is not what he hoped Las Vegas would be.

At Lake Woebegone U., all the teams are always above average.

Meh, at Pleasantville they are prefect.

Why do we think an ace recruiter and the former unlv coach is 100% above board?

There’s plenty of rumors that brackins got money here.

And it’s fine if he’s not! That’s good!
If anyone actually thinks any college basketball program is completely above board, they're mistaken. Anyone remember Matt Abdelmassih?

Like you said, though, it's not a bad thing to have coaches okay with playing the game (not saying anything about TJ specifically here)

Well...not too happy about the hire. Despite my many doubts, we have no choice but to hope it works out. Unlike some fake fans that rooted for ISU to fail on day 1 of Prohm’s regime. You know who you are. (And we know who you are)

As far as Pollard goes, that video was an insult. It essentially proves that he thinks the fan base is stupid. So many lies. It was totally obvious Pollard has been reading CF threads as he was almost point by point rebutting any argument against TJ.

I’m fine!

I just think it’s weird we are happy about TJ running a clean program. Running a clean program hasn’t worked out to well. I’d be glad if he’s good enough to cheat a bit snd not get caught.
Jamie just said in no uncertain terms, we won't do that. We could have had Peter Jok if we'd have just swept Lefty Moore's indiscretion under the rug. We weren't willing to do that. We don't cheat.

check out @trentcondon twitter feed for a conspiracy theory about the two videos being done on the same day.

Stats showing Daum didn't really improve under TJ. SDSU didn't get better. UNLV actually got worse. Craig Smith has a much better record. Oh, and nepotism: the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
Every single post is you:

I get that but 1-4 may not have been realistic options either, and there were many that were worse in my mind.
Personally if it wasn't and established big name TJ has a better chance of succeeding at ISU than the other Mid Majored rumored as options.
So, we're to believe that our only other options would have been the equivalent of Grandview or DMACC's coach? (no offense to them; have no idea who they are)

C'mon. Let's just focus on the positives of TJ, and not play this game of how we suck so badly no one would want us. It is what it is - the "process". Let's move forward and see how it goes.

Hoping TJ can do it here. Great recruiter, knows ISU, seems like a great guy. Let's get some players, coach them up, win lots of games.
