Keep hoping the more it happens the more ours can somewhat fade from other peoples memories (outside of ours who can't forget it.)
At least we move farther down the list. The only thing that I hate about a 15 over a 2, is the fact you know they will always mention our game. Just happened now, out of nine, they vocally mentioned today's game, Duke's and ours. It just brings up terrible memories.
I thought it'd fade after it finally happened again, which took 11 excruciating years, then it happened twice in one day (Norfolk State over Missouri, Lehigh over Duke). But it still gets mentioned. (Not quite as often, I've noticed).
Almost none of the ones prior to ISU-H***** are recalled with any frequency, not even the first one (Richmond over Syracuse).

1991 | Richmond def. Syracuse | 73-69 |
1993 | Santa Clara def. Arizona | 64-61 |
1997 | Coppin State def. South Carolina | 78-65 |
2001 | Hampton def. Iowa State | 58-57 |
2012 | Lehigh def. Duke | 75-70 |
2012 | Norfolk State def. Missouri | 86-84 |
2013 | Florida Gulf Coast def. Georgetown | 78-68 |
2016 | Middle Tennessee def. Michigan State | 90-81 |
2021 | Oral Roberts def. Ohio State | 75-72 |
Good thing the Big Ten locked up 50% of the top 8 seeds in a year where hardly anybody played each other out of conference.
Couldn't see that happening from a mile away.
Conference underachieves unless they get 4 in the Elite Eight (already impossible for that one) and 2 in the Final Four.
One thing that gets lost is the more recent 15/2 upsets were more of the shock value if you take into account how the teams were operating at the time. Most I think were seemingly in good shape headed into the tournament.
ISU was pretty wobbly to close out the regular season in 00/01 and then looked like they were done by the Big 12 tournament.
I was still in NCAA denial for most of the rest of it afterwards though.
Yeah that 2001 upset wasn't too hard to predict looking back.
Ohio State had been good though.
Wasn't there one year where 2 15 seeds won? I want to say the year we had Royce.
Iowa State wasn't the first one it happened to. It wasn't the last. It wasn't the highest profile program on the list.

If there wasn't that damn video of the Hampton coach getting picked up from behind by one his players, the whole episode would have faded into history by now.

Yep, 11-12.
Duke and Missouri.
Missouri had just won the SEC tourney.
DeShaun Watson agrees with this post. When it comes to Oral, I cheer for it every time!

So there's hope for Iowa.
