This was a moderately unusual situation and some of us naturally had curiosity about it and raised some questions and discussion. How is that "losing our minds"? Isn't this a discussion forum?
People are making conjecture as far as to say he obviously isn't in it for the long run, etc etc. It just gets old.
Edit:
That particular post might have been in a different thread. Gets confusing when we have so many threads talking about the same things.

My 2 cents...

Kyle and his wife have 2 kids who are in college, don't know if they have others, but the husband gets an opportunity, in a competitive business, to go from $120K to probably $275K+ and potentially gain a lot of attention in a rebuild in a P5 conference for his resume. The kids are in college and could care less what you are doing. The wife has her own business and probably just as busy as the husband in his job. The wife can just as easy schedule her appointments to leave Wednesdays open and drive to Ames on Tuesday night and back Thursday morning. Out of season the husband can probably spend at least 50% of his time in CF. In the meantime the wife gets to watch kids play in person at UNI and dad has to watch a recording that his friends at UNI will post on-line for him.

After 20 years how much time you spend together is not always the most important thing.

Problem solved, let's move on from this subject, I am sure the Green's will figure it out during one of the family vacations they can now afford down on Sanibel!

Cyclonefanatics..."Noooooo!! TJ can't keep DRob! He's stayed in Ames forever and hasn't gotten a head coaching job! That's terrible!"

Same fanatics..."Noooooo!! TJ can't hire a guy that may only stay for a couple years and then might leave for a head coaching job! That's terrible!"

Also who honestly give a **** where he lives? If he can recruit, coach up our bigs and make our defense better, he can "commute from" the Quad Cities for all I care. I'm going out on a limb guessing his kids probably don't live at home. Stay with me here, but maybe sometimes he'll go back to CF to see his wife, and then sometimes she'll come to Ames. Crazy talk I know, but it just might work.

IF TJ & JP believe he is the best guy even commuting, I like Kyle even more .

Here is part of the reason that this is a good hire. They have schooled us over the years by playing smart, team basketball usually with less talent.

Heck, TJs last stint in Ames, he commuted from Ankeny, didn’t see many complain then:)

I mean i dont think it matters much either way but a commute from Ankeny is significantly different than a commute from Cedar Falls.

I hear he bunking at MWL and he’ll be buying beer for all the freshman
Hey, as a product of MWL (actually M and then W because I got kicked out of M), that man would become an absolute legend and anyone wanting to become a legend should be applauded. Hero’s live forever, but legends never die.
