I have always respected your program. I know I am biased, but there is no way... no way that GC can survive at Auburn. It will get ugly for him there soon. Enjoy the $750,000 from our in-state hicks and good luck with a coaching improvement. Stay tuned for the on-going Auburn train wreck.

Welcome 77. I'm a casual Bama fan, I've dug your unis since I was little. Anyway, I don't see Chizik winning one conference game his first year and I assume that since he won't go to a bowl in his second year he'll be gone by his third year. I hope you all enjoy beating his *** the next two Iron Bowls, I know I will. Roll Tide!!!

This is a little strong. He does get to play Miss St! At any rate, being an ISU grad that now lives in Baton Rouge and also cheers for the Tigers in addition to the Cyclones, I look forward to AU getting beaten like a rented mule at the hands of the many great coaches and programs that make up the SEC. AU has really screwed the pooch.

The enemy of our enemy is our friend. I haven't been watching the Iron Bowl very often, but the first quarter might be fun next year!

After that, it's like watching someone set a train wreck on fire. Kind of ugly.

Roll Tide!

Nice to meet you, 77. Glad you found our humble home.

There's really nothing left to say that hasn't already been said. The situation is so insane, it's actually comical. I don't know that I've EVER seen a coaching change anger both fanbases, certainly not as intensely as this. I'm willing to bet that 72 hours ago, most Cyclone fans would have gone down swinging in defense of Gene Chizik. Then he pulls this little stunt right out of the blue. Now I'm willing to bet that most Cyclone fans would like to go down swinging AT Gene Chizik!

I don't hate many people, but boy do I hate Chizik now! Auburn can HAVE him, and worst of luck to them both. I do feel bad for their fans, and they have my sympathy, but if the administrators and boosters are as stupid as they appear to be, they deserve the implosion that they're about to get. As I said last night, I am now the newest fan of the University of Alabama. I'll be cheering you guys on all year in every sport, but never harder than in the Iron Bowl. I hope you guys crush them by 85 points.

ROLL TIDE!

It is kinda funny, though, that everyone is welcoming you--and were mad that Iowa fans were going on Auburn boards to bash Iowa State.

that said, thanks for your input!

A little piece of advice: using terms like Farm U won't earn you too many friends around here....

lol, pretty hard to get upset at someone for a comment like that when we use excuses like "harvest" as a reason for our attendance being down a bit.

I know it's all in good fun. Anyways, I've been saying from the beginning, Chizik is in for a real eye opener down there. I think he really believes he's the greatest thing since Sliced bread on the Coaching circuit. I don't doubt he truly believes Ames was the problem. As I've said before, Talent level wasn't the issue in our losses to: UNLV, Kansas, Nebraska, aTm, KState, and CU.

I Think it's good for Gene that he was at a less popular BCS school. There is no way anyone in the Auburn hiring sector watched one of our games this year. If they had, there is no way Chizik is even mentioned as a candidate, let alone hired. I'm really beginning to think they did us a favor. This could be JPs greatest move yet. Dumping Chizik on Auburn and getting us paid for it.

Those Iowa fans went over and mocked Stevie Hicks' death, telling people to go find an overpass to jump off of. This isn't really the same thing.

Visiting fans are always welcome, although some have a shorter leash (read hawkeyes) than others.

From everything I've read and heard, GC thinks having good talent will cure everything. Nevermind the coaching staff couldn't get plays in on time. Nevermind that the past two years, our defense hasn't been able to tackle worth a ****. Nevermind that his ego wasn't enough to have a good football team.

Anyway, I have loved 'bama fans since we met a bunch down in Shreveport when we *ahem* beat the Tide in the Liberty Bowl on that field goal:wink:

I know Iowa State fans like to make that claim, but the guy with the best view in the house called it wide. I have to believe it was the right call. Why live in a world of denial? It doesn't change anything. Anyway, I surprised with the class of the Alabama fans both before and after the game. And I met a lot because I ended up staying in their hotel.

On a slightly (only slightly ) more serious note: 77, it takes a lot of guts to show up on another team's forum. It takes even more to actually make good commentary and not just make fun of that other team. I for one hope that you steamroll Auburn and make them realize that what they're paying for is something that they don't want.:yes::yes:

Man, I'm really glad I didn't read the link in that thread. I knew it would be bad, but didn't think it would be that bad.

Glad to have you here! Please stick around, it is always great to get an insider's perspective on things. You will find most people here have a healthy respect for the SEC, it is held in very high regard on this board. Great, passionate fans, who really understand the game. I had a lot of fun with the Bama fans in Shreveport, they were there for a good time. And the local LSU fans were a blast both times.

I am of the opinion that Auburn did ISU a huge favor. I wasn't excited for next year, I don't know how any ISU fan could be. Chizik refused to adapt. He would limit blitzes and play the same D even when it was apparent it would not work. I think our D gave up close to 70% completion on the season. That is hard to do in a scrimmage, but GC made almost every QB look like Marino. We played 4 down lineman and left too many LB's on the field when it was apparent teams were not going to bother running on us. It was so frustrating to watch.

On offense, getting plays in was a joke. Our team would stare at the sidelines like morons with ten seconds left on the play clock. There would not be time to audible, and we would be lucky to get a snap off. Our redzone O was truly offensive, and not in a good way. We could move the ball all day between the 20s. Then, kaput. No points. Easily cost us 3 or 4 wins. This was on coaching, not talent. ISU had .500 talent on the field.

GC is the worst coach ISU has ever had. That is quite a statement, but a true one. He never really wanted to be here, and was planning to leave right after he got the job. Good riddance if you ask me.

I have to ask, how good of a coach is Saban? He looks to me like a top ten, at least, coach. He seems to make great adjustments during the game, and his eye for talent is awesome. His players play inspired football, for sure. As for them, is your QB for real? Does he have a shot at the next level? We don't get to see much Alabama football up here. The little we did, it looked like the Tide had the horses. Did Saban inherit some good athletes?

Speaking of, is that noseguard a stud or what? Cody I think is his name? The games I saw Alabama play, he looked like a younger and faster Pat Williams. He was eating up two blockers and getting in the backfield all day. I think the announcer said just that guy's presence was keeping two TD's a game off the scoreboard for the other team. Quite a compliment.

Sorry for the long post. Don't be a stranger, and bring your friends too. People here always enjoy an outsider's opinion, and really like to hear what is going on in other parts of the country. I think you will find a lot of friends here while GC is the coach at Auburn. I know I am going to be cheering for the Tide quite a bit!

I wouldn't read too much into that. Like it or not, it is a pretty common dig at ag schools everywhere. I don't get offended by it.

Funny thing is, everybody always needs to eat. No matter what, farmers are making some money, and it is one of the noblest professions. I am very proud of ISU and its contributions to helping feed the world. If it is a farm U, so be it. Just don't go making fun of a farmer on a full stomach.
