Ok Texas and OU. Sure, go next year. We'll have their tv revenue for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The 8 of us will still have all the Fox and ESPN revenue to split.

who cares, after a couple
If the SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Pac 12 are all moving to 16 team conferences lets think realistically here about the Big Tens options if Notre Dame is indeed headed for the ACC. I know you Hawk fans are lurking. Your hatred for Iowa State aside what two available schools would you want to go after? If Notre Dame is off the table I'd have to think Kansas and Iowa State are two of the top contenders.

I don’t see why the big ten adds anyone, and it won’t be Iowa state anyway

As soon as this goes official, the financial impact, along with the recruiting impact may be almost immediate. 2021 is the last hurrah.

yeah I would assume if ou and it negotiate a settlement and leave after this year…we will lose most of our recruiting class

KU will land in the BIG 10.
Can we not at least acknowledge just how desolate of a program Kansas football is right now?

No matter how good their basketball program is, conferences have to consider it. They’d be the idea demotion candidate if the Big East was still around for basketball schools.

No way the B1G adds us.
I can’t wrap my head around why we’re supposedly such a non viable program for them to add, yet Rutgers, Illinois, Nebraska and Minnesota are some higher class above us right now and are A okay.

Honestly I could see a situation where the pac 12 would be fine. But it’s not the situation that we are currently in. That’s the deal for me. We are so close to building a god damned national program.

And instead of being able to enjoy our first season being this good with a top 10 ranking going into the season... we'll have this over all of it.

Illinois was grandfathered in. As was Minnesota. Nebraska has a national fanbase and brand and draws a bunch of viewers even when they suck. Rutgers was a play to drive cable revenue (because in most of their markets they were able to charge $x per subscriber regardless of whether anyone actually watched their damn network)

If ISU would have joined the big 10 back in the day (50s i think) when it was invited, it would also be grandfathered in.

Call me a geographic purist, but how can we join the PAC-12 when our water drains into the Atlantic?

H

Less geographically challenged among that division than WVU is in B12.

Pretty far fetched but I'd love it compared to just about any other likely outcome. I guess that assume Kansas to Big Ten because he says KSU.

And we will get a constant drip of decommittments as well ;)

Are we sure this is true anymore? Sure it was back when they were where Alabama is now. That was decades ago and practically no Americans have a geographic tie to Nebraska.

At the end of the day no matter how rabid their fans, they have less population than Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma...and those three states aren't very populated either.

At one point Minnesota and Army were the marquee names of college football. Times change.

Correct. Really simple, it’s all about $$ and ISU adds legitimately zero additional revenue due to Iowa already having the market for the BTN, etc.

Perhaps 'had' would have been better.

Or at least they were perceived to have had it, a decade ago. They might not be so attractive if they were making that move today.

Had they stayed in the B12 I'm sure their continued drop into mediocrity would have somehow been seen as caused by the B12 and not just the reality no matter what league they were in.

If OU and UT are going to the SEC they aren’t waiting 4 years. They aren’t waiting more than 1.

Best thing to do would be to sit tight with the remaining 8 teams until 2025 and collect that ESPN money and split it only 8 ways. Figure it out from there and try to negotiate a spot in the PAC. That’s the only play.
There is no way any of the teams are going to sit in limbo that long. It would crater recruiting and be a disaster for all those schools. All OU and Texas have to do is announce they won't renew after the contract is up and the conference will move on within a year. No one will have any interest living in the unknown. They need stability. The schools will either reconstruct the conference as best they can or scramble to join other conferences.

Add the arizona schools and Nebraska, maybe Louisville. This is all madness and speculation. I don’t see leagues getting blown up in next two years, maybe by 2025. We just won the fiesta bowl so I’m not worried about us
You should probably worry...
