This right here is why one or two mega conferences with only the 20-30 most elite programs participating makes zero sense. ESPN and these streaming services are going to want MORE interest not LESS. They want MORE volume and more viewership not less. You knock Iowa State and similar programs down to irrelevant/meaningless games you lose so much fan interest and viewership around the country. It just doesn't add up.

What they lose in interest between Iowa State vs. Kansas cannot be compared to what they will gain interest when Texas' worst opponent every year is Missouri or South Carolina. That's where this is headed

The Pac 12 is never going to take a religious based school or K State's academics. TCU, Baylor and K State are in more trouble that Iowa State if the Big 12 ends. They probably have to take the top part of the AAC and try a 'new Big 12'

The best of the Big 12 remaining for the Pac-12 to take would probably be Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. That’s four states, a national power in basketball, a foothold in Texas, football stadiums that sell out (other than Kansas football), and access to the 12pm Eastern time slot.

Here's the flaw in your premise. OU and TX are the draws of the Big 12. Without them the Big 12 is the AAC.
What constitutes 'draw'? Reputation? I'd argue we're the biggest 'draw' in the conference now because the up and coming under dog is always of more interest to outsiders than the perennial expectations. See last years' bowl viewership. I'd agree that 'image' is more elite with the likes of Oklahoma and Texas, but those can just as easily be yesterday's perceptions. Just as Nebraska made the B1G more elite. They may have been when they joined, but look at what they've done for the conference since joining.
It's all about what we do next!

Not when half the country no longer watches college football. Currently I watch other teams when we aren’t at a home game. If they went to a 30 team league I wouldn’t watch a second of it. They would basically become the G-League or Triple A baseball.

I'd probably be in the same boat too. I do watch other games in the background or if I am not doing anything. But if there is consolidation of conferences, I'll probably loose interest if ISU isn't a part of it.

I'd add that it would be a fool's mistake for ESPN to not balance promotion. If they go all in on their Super conference, they'll also lose other ESPN viewing as well. This is a high stakes game they're playing and I can't help but believe ESPN will be on the short end of it.

You think eliminating every football fan outside of the big 60 generates more eyeballs on a UT/Mizzou game? UT doesn’t magically get more fans. You are net losing. I don’t know how you think that’s not the case. This is only good for UT, not college viewership in total and not for content providers:

Like most others, I think this is about as likely to happen as me winning the lottery. How would some GA boosters even find out this information.. I wouldn't think even the GA AD would know details this specific at this point.

Tx and OU arent moving to any conference before 2024...Not unless they want to surrender their media rights for 4 years and.....and...not even be on TV. The big 12 owns the right to keep any team from being televised under conference by laws if they leave the conference prematurely.

Since ISU can't control what happens concerning alignment, let's go out with a blaze of glory beating both OU and UT and winning the last Big12 football title (or titles)!!!

this is going to happen, cmc is irate right now and is going to take all his frustration out by preparing like no one has ever prepared before

Disagree. Texas fans will be willing to pay for streaming service regardless if their worst opponent each year is South Carolina or Kansas. A lifelong Iowa State fan sure as hell isn't forking over money to watch Texas play at South Carolina if Iowa State is on the outside looking in. I along with millions and millions of others will have no dog in the fight and literally will not care and will not watch.

Would seem to me as schools ditch the ncaa, the IRS will come calling. Pay for play is no longer a tax free situation. And that is a whole other level of crazy both on a individual and institutional level.

If they can get $40 from 1 million customers, or $5 from 6 million customers, which would a business chose? SEC doesn't give two ***** about overall health of college football; they care about making as much money as possible off of their brand. Improve the brand, improve the bottom line.

I think that would be hilarious (in an awful situation). I'd imagine they would just lawyer up at that point.

Brings back memories of the meeting the Big 12 held where Missouri couldn't vote on anything per their lawyers.
