1. Get Texas A&M, Colorado, Nebraska, and Missouri back in the conference.
2. Snatch Arizona and Arizona State.
3. Give OU and TX the double Ejim on the way out.
4. Profit
I bet in their heart of hearts they would love to come back. But not in their wallets.

Like I've already mentioned.... if this goes through and ISU ends up in the MAC or MWC.... I will hope and pray that all of college football suffers a quick death.

I barely ever watch SEC football now, but will never watch it if this happens, and I think a LOT of people will follow suit.... hopefully anyway. Are they arrogant enough to believe that if they basically end college football as we know it that the whole country will just sit back and watch them all play football? I won't. I will no longer care at all.
Why do people keep mentioning the MAC? Even if G5 happened, every conference, including the AAC, would take us with open arms. Why the heck would we go to the worst one? No offense to our resident Toledo fan.

Not even that, even if we are decent, go undefeated in the crappy Big 12 leftover conference, what would the post season entail? A bowl berth to the famous Idaho potato bowl against BYU? That would be a special season going forward.

We would still be classified as a P5 conference. This would mean an automatic birth in the expanded 12 team playoff. However, an at-large berth for a 2nd place team would be highly unlikely.

If what was posted in the mega meltdown thread is correct. "Planning on enforcing Grant of Rights and Conference Bylaws" means the conference will withhold two years of media payouts and OU and UT just lost voting rights in the conference for not informing the conference within 24 hours of entering into negotiations with another conference. That comes before any other buyout money they will owe the conference for leaving and damages to the conference.

I like this approach, offer an olive branch but let them know you are not going to just roll over.

I'm not concerned about Texas or OU. They're going to do what's in their best interest. Frankly, I'm tired off ISU being the abused spouse. Lets end it already.

I am as passionate about ISU athletics as the next person but at the end of the day we're talking about football. The university can survive and thrive as a G5. We just won't be on the national stage when its comes to football.
You can survive without your left arm, but it would be a poor choice to not give yourself every chance to save it because you just want to get it over with.

Wonder if raiding the AAC could get enough eyeballs to warrant a TV contract that's not a devastating drop.

South Florida
Central Florida
Cincinnati
BYU

As a bonus, maybe we could actually have 12 teams again :jimlad:

Auto bids go to the 5 highest ranked conference champions. I would bet the AAC would have that 5th auto spot some years.

There are no automatic bids in the current CFP expansion plans. Just the 6 highest ranked champions. Also the Big 10 is starting to throw a wet blanket on expansion for right now.

I think the remaining Hateful 8 raiding the AAC and Boise State is much more likely than the AAC absorbing teams. Unless the PAC-12 gets involved.

No. By enforcing GoR it buys is a year to get things set and then maybe one to have it rolling. Otherwise recruiting will be hurt if it takes more than a year to be figured out. The second year can be called a transition year and be fine.
