This...The Big 10 is a pipe dream.
There is nothing that we offer that league that Iowa doesn't already get them. Unfortunately that's how this works.

Is this supposed to feel reassuring?
Don't know much about her, but the vacillation on fans vs no fans last year didn't imbibe me with a great deal of confidence in her leadership.

Its all about money. Nothing else. We are in a better position than some schools (KSU) but pretty much just hoping for the best at this point..Do TV markets matter or potential subscriptions? If it was only TV markets, sure. How about AAU status? A good football program with great facilities? Regional similarity. Seems like we have a bit to offer.
The problem for the Big 10 is if they don't try to keep up with the SEC, what would stop the SEC from reaching out to Ohio State and Michigan and trying to grow their super league? This whole thing sucks for the sport of college football.
Notre Dame is not going there though. They’d go to the ACC if anything.Nebraska is no longer an AAU member, Notre Dame is also not an AAU member and I know they would take Notre Dame in a heart beat.
Agree, the Big 10 has to keep up.
I brought this up in another thread:
Texas and OU are gone. Our President and AD need to be working with KU's Chancellor and AD tirelessly to get us into the Big 10 right now. That needs to be the play. I'm hoping the Big 10 goes bold and adds members up to 18 or 20 teams just so the Pac 12 can't get all of us. (Thus, making it tough for them to add viable options down the road.)
It would be nice if ISU, KU, KSU and OSU somehow ended up in the Big 10 (Maybe WVU and some other school?). Because, from a national perspective, adding just ISU and KU isn't going to move the needle when the SEC just added UT and OU. They'll need to try to one-up the SEC a bit to justify such a move.
Notre Dame is not going there though. They’d go to the ACC if anything.
If I were the Big ten and I enjoyed my life the way it is I would essentially make my own AFL to the sec's NFL. Let the SEC bet on themselves and segregate their viewing audience to just that corner of the nation and allow the rest of the schools to continue with the current traditions rivalries and academic priorities that are already in the system. S*** add 40 teams if you want make it very hard for ESPN to get any more subscribers than they already would have.Let's all just pray the Big Ten would prefer strength in numbers of high-profile academic institutions and wants to ensure they aren't left behind if the SEC continues to poach other high profile schools.
That report seems to be picking up everywhere. Could be something to watch.![]()
Report: Kansas, Iowa State set up call with Big Ten
As the Big 12 implodes with Texas and Oklahoma's departure, Kansas and Iowa State have set up call with the Big Ten for conference realignment plans.www.google.com

I laugh at folks like you who state your opinion as if it were fact. Hope you'll show up to eat your words if your opinion is proved wrong. The Big 10 is a pipe dream.

IMHO, the biggest gamble of all is ESPN's. They're using monopolistic practices right now in maneuvering the TX/OK move. Which could set them up for legal proceedings. If this goes through, the Feds will surely scrutinize the move and assuredly tax it. ESPN is already leveraged and will leverage their parent company's entertainment packaging even more. If other leagues do not follow suit, their plan will implode. Or, at the very least, be VERY expensive to sustain.Of course it’s about money. But what source matters most? Is it ticket sales? Donors? Grant money? Subscriptions services? TV rights? How does ESPN value that these days? Is it by market size or actual eyeballs tuned in?

Can we shut down Texas’s power grid again?
In which of those categories would ISU be the desired target?Of course it’s about money. But what source matters most? Is it ticket sales? Donors? Grant money? Subscriptions services? TV rights? How does ESPN value that these days? Is it by market size or actual eyeballs tuned in?
