The SEC bylaws have a ‘vote out’ clause as well. Imagine if Texas and OU join, and then all the big dogs vote out the little ones like Vandy to invite other blue bloods from other conferences..

Well, I was talking from a voluntary standpoint. I’ve never looked at the SEC bylaws, but I’d have to imagine that it takes more than 6 teams to vote someone out. I would also imagine there has to be some stipulations in there similar to misconduct type of stuff, not just a , “We don’t want you here anymore.”

They still need bottom feeders too. You can’t play a championship caliber game every week. More games = more money. The goal is to get as many high profile teams to the end of the season with the least amount of losses possible. That way they can get as many teams as possible into the expanded playoff.

Roughly 60% of the country still has cable or satellite TV. Streaming is gaining more market share every year, but expanding into new TV markets is still a meaningful way to boost revenues.

It doesn't matter what exists today. what matters is what exists 5-10 years from now because that is what the contracts are based on. On one is saying it isn't still meaningful. They're saying it's less meaningful than 10 years ago and will be even less so 10 years from now.

Time is not a thing with Hok fans.

For example: beating Nebraska in football now, does not mean that you beat 1996 Nebraska.

Big Ten Network is standard programming on all of the major streaming services pretty much anywhere in the country. If you are able to watch Iowa State football games on television, odds are you already get BTN.

Maybe you just don’t know what you’re talking about?
I only have streaming TV services during football season, if ISU isn't in a major conference I'll never have a streaming TV provider.

The only people who seem to think this is about streaming and not larger markets and reach out is Iowa State fans. I've seen 40 fan message boards, and listened to 50 different media yet only Iowa State fans seem to think it's about streaming. We dont even have that big of a fan base. Hell NDSU probably gets more streamers than Illinois so why aren't they going to the Big 10

Best outcome: OU/TX are negotiating for better Fox TV deal and make it clear after it happens. Stability is regained.

Second best if they DO leave: KU and ISU team up to approach B1G as a pair to be added. Regionally/Geographically fit. Both AAU.

Third Best: Some sort of BigXII/PacXII merger is realized including ISU

Anything below that probably spells the end for ISU as a potentially significant collegiate FB entity. At which time I quit following college sports like I did with the pros 20 years ago.
Sorry but if best case scenario happens, I want ISU to try to get into the Big 10. Texas and OU will be back in this position again when they want more, which is inevitable. I'm tired of their greed. **** or get off the pot. It's unfortunate that it is ******* over 8 other schools.

True but many cable companies starting to lose customers to streaming are also starting to move BTN and like programing to premium channels to cut costs to the consumer and to keep them .
This is not a blip that is going to go away, its a game changer, and its nothing new, people have been talking about if for the past 5 years.

Cord cutting makes your whole argument basically worthless and has less truth each month as more people cut cable and stream. So the old way of thinking is dying, and have two schools in a state will be less and less of a problem as we move forward.

You are completely missing the recruiting angle on this. This is about being able to recruit better for the big 10 also. You don't expand your conference recruiting power by adding ISU. If you are a school like Ohio State you want your games on a new market like Atlanta(GA Tech) more than Des Moines. It's just as much about recruiting as it is tv.

Anyone else agree Brodie is an absolute loser? Get off the Cyclone message board and go enjoy your Saturday. We get it you think your Hawks are great!
Don't be jealous that he went to a prestigious school like Michigan.

You must be looking at old data. In 2015 it's was 56% by the end of 22 that number is expected to be closer to 45%. Also the number of people actually watching the product is rapidly declining.

They may want to keep that handy for when UT thinks the conference offices, the championship game should all be in Texas, and when they start calling for special favors, like a rule to stop the horns down sign to their players.,

Butts in seats is worth quite a bit for everyone involved. Someone told me every human on earth with the internet gets the big ten network already, though, so it’s in the big tens best interest to never add another team. In fact, they should cut everyone but tOSU and Michigan and just have them play each other 10 times to maximize profits, apparently.
That someone is like today's media. Nonsense. The same goes for everyone on earth having cyclones.com if they have the internet. So, why would we ever join a conference? See how ridiculous that sounds?
