I have to say, I think that entering discussions with the PAC 12 is way, way preferable to everyone scrambling around in secret to find a spot.
Maybe if Dana was still there, I would feel differently but I do find myself feeling bad for them.
A merger wouldn't have to. Just set the date of the merger at 2025, and tell UT and OU that we're going to play it like normal until then (or pay the **** up).
If this happens, Hosting the California schools in Jack Trice is gonna feel really weird at the beginning.

If Big 12/Pac 12 deal of some kind happens, it would be very tough for West Virginia. If that is the case, I think we let WV know they are welcomed to come along. However, if they choose not to, I wouldn't mind releasing them from their GOR obligations. I enjoy WV in the conference and have no ill will towards them.

If WVU really couldn’t get into the ACC, is a PAC-12 Big 12 merger really that bad of a scenario for them?
If they split into a west and central (east) division, 7 of their division opponents would be familiar in terms of travel from the Big 12. That assumes Utah, Colorado would be the other two, and they are definitely farther out but…

If WVU doesn't have an ACC invite, then their alternative is $7M a year in TV money in the American. It's not pretty but a spot in Big 12/Pac-12 merger would be far preferable to that.
Why couldn't this have happened while I was living in CA and not WV?
Hopefully this meeting, especially the existence of it being public, lights a fire under the B1G. That would give us great options.
If that happened I'd hope WV got into the ACC just so the conference doesn't have to spread across the entire country. If we needed one, I'm sure Houston or someone would be ok. Seems like its all just wild assed guessing rn anyway. Time to hunker down and wait I think.

I really doubt they agree to come past the last week of October. But that said, Texas and their gigantic egos are coming in November so who knows.Cali schools are not going to deal well with the Iowa Winters
If it means finding homes in a P5 conference for all of the Big 12 schools you absolutely negotiate down the GOR. Stability is just as important as the money the schools will receive.
