This is an interesting choice of the US flag bearer in the closing ceremony. I'm not gonna dispute this decision and there's probably a heartwarming story behind the decision. I'm sure she has some achievements and is deserved of the honor. But I thought we could've selected an athlete with better achievements such as Kevin Durant or Allyson Felix.

Do any of the other athletes throw a deadly weapon like she does? I'd let her carry all the flags if I've got a javelin pointed at my chest.

I was watching the semifinal last night and one of the American runners was a beast. Just totally jacked. Looked like a linebacker out there running. I was shocked by how fast he was going, because he definitely didn’t look like your stereotypical runner.

Also, he may have just LOOKED huge compared to the other runners. I guess I need to try to look back on my perspective.
That was Mike Rose, wasn't it?

Who really cares? What's your problem with her?

watched synchronized swimming for a few minutes. Can't watch this event without thinking of that old Martin Short skit. "I know you, I know you".
Yeah. It's crazy the stuff they can do in the water. I wonder if those athletes ever play water polo.

Martin Short wouldn't stand a chance. He doesn't swim well.
OK I need to see this now. Link?

Watching the WBB gold medal game, I'm convinced if we were allowed to send two teams to participate in this Olympics, it would be an All-American final. The gap between US WBB and the world is much larger than the MBB.

Sorry for the spoiler but I couldn't remember how to do it. Don't scroll down if you don't want to know the womens 400 results

Alison Felix gets bronze from lane 9. That was awesome!!!
She has just been an incredible human being in this lead up. First the **** with Nike when she was pregnant and then she and others fought so that other athletes could bring breastfeeding babies to Tokyo (finally approved like...early July?) And then Allyson stepped in woth new sponsor Athleta to cover childcare costs for those children. $200k is what I saw. Just a wonderful woman.
Girl Power! What's not to like.
Gold #35. USA won the women's 4x400m relay in dominating fashion!

Just saw it. Awesome!!!
Felix + 3!!! Woot, woot, Felix 11 Olympic medals, most in track and field ever!!! Who has the most total? Phelps?

Phelps has a ridiculous 28 medals. Even more insane is 23 of those are gold! Then he has 3 silver and 2 bronze. That is a career nobody could even dream of.

Watching the first half of this WBB final is like watching ISU playing Baylor on steroids (with perimeter shooters). US is too big and strong for Japan to handle down low. Brittney Griner so far has a field day (18 pts, 9-10 FG). Credit to Japan's ball movement and outside shooting to keep the game relatively close. I think US is going to wear down Japan in the second half.

6'9 Brittney Griner guarding the 5'4 Japanese PG Rui Machida several times is a fun matchup. ;)
