Yes. BUT, our offense instilled now is built to be vanilla. We truly didn’t do anything that special offensively against Texas, KSU, WV, or Oregon and we won each game and the last three pretty darn easily.

We are a COMPLETELY different football team now. In 2019 we barely had a run game to start the year and our OL was average to below average. All American running back and a top 10 OL changes things.

Our “vanilla” won’t be Brock dropping back and slinging it around to his WR’s 35+ times. Our vanilla will be lining up in our base sets and running it down your f’n throat and the only way you stop that is by overcompensating, which we’ll then hit our All American TE or good receiving core where you aren’t and you’re screwed.
I think the biggest need right now is adding a deep threat. It helps the running game by keeping teams from stacking the box and forces defenses to cover the whole field. Teams were doing that later in the season, which caused Breece's running numbers to dip. Our most consistent vertical threat was probably Kolar in the seam.

With the “hopeful” uptick in Scates’ ability/mentality, getting back Milton and moving him back inside, and then guys like Shaw, Daniel Jackson, Noel, I think we’re going to have a lot of options out there.

That’s not even mentioning Xavier because his production is known.

Seam should be good enough as he should turn the linebackers

After reading the comments from Breece Hall and listening to Xavier Hutchinson at media day I think Scates is in for a monster year. Hall, Kolar and Hutchinson will demand a lot of attention. Scates is going to see a lot of single coverage.

Side note: I know the outside perception and noise is that Iowa State is going to drop off a ton after this year. The idea of a receiving corps in 2022 of Scates, Jackson and Noel has me fired up. Jirehl Brock is going to be a stud hes highly regarded recruit stuck behind Breece. Campbell has said over and over Easton Dean is the most talented TE they've ever had. I dunno the pieces are there.

The offense is going to surprise people next season. The defense will have a ton of holes, but we're not without talent there either.

Yeah potentially losing the entire back eight and Will McDonald. It will certainly be interesting. I’m fairly confident in the secondary stepping up, not so sure about the linebackers. No one will be Will McDonald, but you do your best.

DSM Register Hour on KXNO yesterday stated Hunter Dekkers was around 250# last fall. He's lost 25# and looks really good!

With that being said. Let's just pray we don't see him until the second half of blowouts

Think those edge guys in the 2022 class could be key.

When someone asks what Dave Andrews does for this program

6'4" 220 freshman

6'4" 280 LB Senior

I saw a pic on ISU twitter feed this last week and I remember thinking "wow, those dudes looked jacked. I wouldn't want to run into them in a dark alley." Then I noticed Andrews in the background and somehow he still looked even scarier than the players. The guy just looks intense.

Is anyone else concerned about our players ability to find shirts that fit around their ******* necks anymore? :jimlad:

Coach Rasheed said he's "gotta have growth this camp" in an interview earlier this week.

About 2 minutes into the video

Hadn’t heard a ton. I remember he was one of our higher recruits back in that 2019 class with the RB’s.
