Agree. And to say this was a charade or meaningless because it doesn't involve contracts or legally binding agreements... well, OuT were contractually obligated to not ditch the Big 12. How'd that work out?
Their contracts exist through 2025 and they’re keeping them here unless they pay $$$ to break them, so I’d say they’re holding up pretty well.
Same with the ACC’s GOR into 2035 - if contracts were meaningless, Clemson/FSU could double their money in the SEC too. But the contract says no.
It comes off as really immature for these three commishes to say “We did a handshake” when all 40 of their schools will do a 20-page contract to have Western State Tech A&M come play one basketball game eight years from now. It’s because contracts work.
I think the Alliance is so premature that a written statement would have been way better than the dumb press conference the commissioners tried to do, because it has so much work left before being ready for prime time.
