I’ll take a quarter pounder with nothing on it, that’s basically what’s going on a big nothing burger.
Yeah, and Oklahoma won 4 games/year under John Blake. Texas won 5, 5 and 6 under Charlie Strong, Alabama had 3 and 4 win seasons under Mike DuBose and Mike Shula. Michigan had 3 and 5 win seasons under RichRod. Notre Dame had a bunch of 5-6 win seasons under three consecutive coaches. LSU had 4-5 win seasons with Gerry DiNardo. Miami had a bunch of 5-7 win seasons under Coker, Shannon and Golden. Tennessee has been winning 5 games most years for the past decade. Florida State has won 21 games in the last four years.
Every team is a bad hire away from a 3, 4, 5 win season. Every team is a good hire away from 8+ win seasons. Every flash in the pan program occurs because a coach gets success then bolts for greener pastures. For those that don't, they turn good seasons into good programs. For those that bolt, they usually bolt either as quickly as they can leverage it (i.e. Saban from MSU), or they go until they feel they simply can't compete for titles at their school.
College football has proven over and over again, that there are a small handful of schools that can hire about whoever they want that are about as surefire to succeed as you can get. After that, the rest of our schools need to make good, tough decisions on coaching hires.
This can't be stated enough. 10 years later and people are already asking "Why the hell is Rutgers in this conference again?"
I realize it's been a busy day in college football but nobody of significance in sports media has taken the bait on Wannstedt's comments. Given how quickly they pounce whenever there's a chance to tell us how worthless we are, that suggests to me that they don't take his comments seriously enough to warrant a response.
Well... my theory to this is the 8 teams will want to find a landing spot to save recruiting. Yes Matt Campbell saying " we win" will be cool to hear but do you honestly think Texas A & M recruiting against Iowa State for an athlete won't drop the "You could be in the MAC for all we know your sophomore year and the school you play for wont be able to afford your coach so he'll be gone."What possibly would cause the 8 to settle for less then the contracted damages? If ou and ut officially leave early they will pay their buyout minus the cost to litigate.
About what? Again, if you want me to address something, please tell me what. Do I believe every single story put out by ESPN or the Athletic? ESPN, the Athletic, etc. have not commented regarding what Wannstadt has said today.
You could very well be correct. I like to envision that possibly a "settlement" will occur. ESPN/SEC/OuT approach the R8 with a "we are not admitting guilt" but we will cut you a check in the amount $X payable over the next Y years....but the Big XII has to dissolve immediately and so we all go our separate ways effective immediately.......... OuT is immediately in the SEC and the R8 can immediately begin their sales pitch to other conferences. This all works IF behind the scenes conversations have been held, which obviously no one will admit to (hence todays press conference). The R8 accept the settlement because they know they have a bed to lay in at the end of the day that is satisfactory and safe for them.
Or again, much like ALL of us are thinking and saying........ I will keep telling myself that because it is much better than thinking " Oh $hit, we are $crewed!"
I again will trust that Pollard and Wintersteen will get us through this pickle because not only are they pretty smart people but of the AAU money that WILL follow us and provide others in our same conference. You better believe the BIG will want us because of our brains. ........... or else I will keep telling myself that.
Kansas City Star has it.I've never heard of this website before, but since others were commenting that nobody had picked up on this story I'll share the link anyway. And yes, this is still essentially nobody picking up on the story.

FOX Sports analyst Dave Wannstedt says several Big 12 teams on the verge of finding new conferences
Dave Wannstedt says several Big 12 teams will be on the move.www.saturdaydownsouth.com
Actually, because it's so counter-narrative that for me it tends to give some credence to his comments. Had he said oSu and TxT, then it would not have been news or special in any way. I still wouldn't believe a word he says. He's a claptrapping loudmouth. The one thing that seems strange about Wannstedt's "report" is that Okie State and KState are off to the Pac 12 but not Texas Tech.
It was mentioned in the article about how the Big 12 was not invited for the alliance. I could be reading into this too much, but if all the other schools essentially add to the other 3 conferences, the Big 12 schools are represented.
Seems Tech may just be more schools than the Pac-12 needs. They would need 4. After Ok St and K-State I imagine they'd rather count on BYUs alumni/fans subscribing to TV than Texas Techs. Maybe 4 is Utah St/Colorado St or even Boise St (Boise is "cool" now w Californians! The one thing that seems strange about Wannstedt's "report" is that Okie State and KState are off to the Pac 12 but not Texas Tech. I understand TCU and Baylor being left in the cold due to religious affiliation but why no Texas Tech?
Tech, Okie State and Kstate to the Pac 12 seems most logical with Iowa State and KU to the BIG and West Virginia to ACC.
I think there is two types of settlements. One where a check is cut to the B12 and the other option is for all of remaining 8 Big 12 schools to be placed in the remaining P4 leagues, even if all of them go to ACC or PAC.
I think additions to the remaining P4 even if its only ACC & PAC in lieu of exit fees is the better option for the Big 12 because I think it would keep all of the schools more relevant, even if they end up taking a few less dollars in the short run. Because I doubt schools that would make 14M per team per year have that many realignment options in the P4 without additions being in place of the settlement.
What is standing in the way of that collaboration today? Universities collaborate on all kinds of research across conference now, don’t they? There is nothing in the B1G research rules that prevent iThe Ag research and innovation that can be done by combining Iowa State and Purdue in a research partnership could also literally be life altering to a huge chunk of the planet. That's not hyperbole either.
Have to wonder if he follows that moron Kurtz. Kurtz posted some more earthshattering news today from his "sources" ie, the articles and tweets he read from the national sports writers today.Ignore Surly. He’s a k state fan and a complete ******* weirdo.
