They don't care about the playoff???

UT is sitting on $30 billion in their foundation and already the highest revenue of any athletic department in the country - 2019 numbers. Money is a minor motivator and way behind a perceived/real recruiting advantage - I agree on the point.

OU and UT would not have announced (a&m did thru the chronicle) until the vote to expand to 12 teams. That was supposed to take place in August. That vote is now delayed and the president of West Virginia said there is no way that it will pass.

OU and UT, in their wildest imagination, would not want to go to the SEC if the playoff stays at four teams.
This as the premise (which I agree with), presents a whole lot of back room deals/bribes/compromises/bluffs which is intriguing and scary.

I don’t know who this guy is, but I’m going to assume he is in sports media, and is full of dumb and outdated takes about “no value”. Like I said before, these aren’t deep thinkers. These are clickbait whores. I trust their insight on the business of sports media as much as I trust the kid putting carrots on the shelf at Hy-Vee to tell me about the future of produce supply chains.

I’m sure I’ll get all kinds of **** about how this guy knows his stuff, but last week CW interviewed some college football matrix guy, and he was ******* clueless about you know, actual on the field college football. So apparently he is an analytics guy. Fine, call your site “analytics for degenerate gamblers that don’t actually care or no **** about college football matrix.”

The way he is acting, the remaining 8 must have stolen his wife. Seems actively bent on the worst possible outcomes for us.

The only way you naturally stop perpetual expansion is to limit the playoff to auto-bids only by conference champs. Otherwise, bigger will always be perceived as better and the college football elites will continue to gather in their own conference and leave the rest behind.
There’s too much money to be made for the system to go that route.

Stew is going to get put into a pretzel if he comes on and just gives opinions like he’s been doing on Twitter. Blum and Chris will have actual numbers to prove he’s wrong over and over.
Agreed. Which makes me doubt it happens.

If the Big 12 gets into an agreement to add some teams, does that leave OU and TX off the hook on paying their penalties for breaking their contract with the Big 12?

This is fascinating to me, that the move to the SEC slipped out before they could approve the expanded playoff. Not expanding significantly hurts, both ESPN and the SEC. The best news...Texas continues to slide, just like Nebraska, into the abyss. OU has a chance, but only slight given the gauntlet that the SEC represents.

UT may have that $32 billion endowment but you can't really count on that as if it's some kind of financial war chest. Much of those funds are very strictly and legally tied to specific uses and purposes, it's not like they can dip into it whenever and for whatever reason they see fit.

Complete troll. UCF is reluctant of an invite solely due to the fact that they’re afraid the H8 are leaving lol.
Correct.

Everybody's going to be reluctant of a big 12 bid in this environment. Anybody that has a finger on the pulse knows that the big 12 has to present that they're going to expand for all the obvious reasons. Doesn't mean they have to, but it means that they need this as an option. But as I've said, they have to go down this path to see what computable damage is for a tortious interference claim.

We are toast. UCF taking a wait and see approach is a kick in the nuts.

That is correct, but it adds to what is really behind them.

The Iowa State University just completed a 1.5 billion dollar fundraiser. Fabulous news and it was highly successful. The original goal was 1.1 billion as I recall.

They are at an additional level or two, to say the least. A big part of their endowment is the oil in the Permian Basin. It is split between UT and Texas A&M as financial cloud behind already both well-oiled machines and a fast growing state.

Their financial engine, both that their foundation and that their athletic department, is so well oiled that the move to the SEC is not about making an additional 10 to 20 million dollars a year.
