The play calling all game was s***. Brock was in his own head by the time Dekkers came in not to mention they said Purdy was seen limping around. I applaud them for putting in Dekkers, Sanders etc. Had we made that field goal at the end we would have only lost by seven. SEVEN. We turned the ball over 4 freakin times. Good to see the fight out of the second stringers especially Eli Sanders.
Iowa is a better coached team

I don’t think Matt Campbell has a quitting bone in his body. This is a ridiculous thread. If guys arent getting it done/taking care of the ball you give new guys a chance. While doing that it also sends a message to those guys who weren’t executing quite as well. Love our coach and every one of those players…. Fans saying the players listened to the hype and are entitled is crazy. These kids (yes kids) bust their butts. It’s the fan base that has been crying all day. Upset when the team didn’t play well…. Remember when that was expected???

I saw nothing wrong with what Campbell did. He saw like many of us did, that Brock wasn't getting it done. Dekkers came in and played well. Could get interesting if Purdy can't figure it out.

Issue being that we as fans have seen the QB carousel before and it usually means things are not good overall.

Good grief, nobody is saying there’s going to be a carousel. Brock is the guy, just needs to figure a few things out.

I can't hear the questions on the video from CFTV of the post game press conference, As I was watching/listening, I don't know how many times Matt took the rap for prep, game plan, lack of execution etc. claiming "its a Matt Campbell issue". I believe he will get the team back on track.

Coach C was a man and took all the blame on himself.

Of course, he knows he will never ever be fired.

He didn't quit on the team, but he did fail it. Has to be able to prepare a team for these early games.

The 2017 game was just a good football game with both teams firing off and the last team to make the plays won and it wasn't too bad.

But these last 3 losses have been one WTF moment after the next. Similar to Okie State and a few other losses.

Exactly. Taking the blame (as he should), and never throwing his players under the bus. Class act.

Close this thread; it’s ridiculous. Hate on Campbell all you want for failing this rivalry, he would never quit on this team.

Maybe saying he quit on the team is probably harsh. I wish i could have seen or heard his reactions but it seemed to me like at some point he benched Purdy, Hall, and Hutchinson. But didnt bench McDonald, Rose or Kolar right? That seems very targeted. Ive seen starters benched because they were just off. And ive seen them benched to avoid injury. But this felt more like a message being sent. Like “if you’re not gonna take care of the ball, i will find somone that will” type of message. So the benching didnt strike me as quitting necessarily.

But then when i saw the play calls and the lack of urgency in the 4th quarter, i seriously also started to feel like we gave up. We were very much not out of the game, however we played like we were. It was seriously disappointing. Im still trying to wrap my head around it. But this thread is not way off basis. I think coach has some explaining to do.
They didn't want to push Dekkers too hard in his first series at quarterback in front of a giant environment against an arch rival.

Point taken- but it is just one game out of 12 for this season. This doesn’t ruin our season. Keep it in perspective.
No it doesn’t. I’m going to be very interested to see how our game in Waco goes in 2 weeks. Baylor looks improved from last year and we generally do not play well in Waco. Will be a pivotal game down there.
