Not exactly sure.
I really hope us an KU get to the Big 10. Some of these new matchups are yawn. Not to mention playing Baylor, TCU, and Tech doesn’t excite me all that much.
Complete honesty, the big ten west slate doesn't excite me either. MN, Northwestern, Illinois, are not teams that I'm excited to play. May be nice to be easier drives, but they seem rather blah. Nebraska even fits that now. I would like to go just for the stability factor (hopefully money increases down the road sometime too, but stability is the big thing).

Fair point, but those teams do more for me since they are closer I guess. Nebraska would be fun to beat up on now and Illinois is an exciting basketball matchup. Not to mention the games with Wisconsin and Iowa would be of interest and we’d still have KU.

Do we think the Pac is scared enough to be poachable? I see no reason why the best would come but is there an actual possibility the ASUs or UCLAs of the world would jump, fearing USC and Oregon pulling an OuT?

The Big 10 is better, but this is fine and should honestly be a lot of fun.
I probably just need to get used to it. Byu interests me, as well as UCF football as long as they are top 25. Just need to gear myself up more for Houston and Cincinnati

I'm not sure how the guarantee games would work to be fair, TCU/Baylor, ISU/Ok-State, but again changing division boundaries every two years, I suppose could also be an option.

The only split I’ve seen that won’t necessitate protected crossovers is the West/East with BYU, OSU, and all Texas schools in the West, so I keep thinking that’s the most likely one.

I would rather play OSU every year too, but from 1996 through 2010 we didn’t anyway.

This looks to be a pretty fun conference. Hopefully it works out fine revenue wise.

I agree. As the saying goes, if you can't join them, beat them. It might be fun to be in a conference of equals that is focused on increasing its stock rather than just maintaining a position at the top.

I would be careful to just assume that the PAC 12 is a better option than a reconfigured Big 12 even if it loses another team or two. Don't get me wrong, I won't want to remain if we have anymore Hateful 8 defections, but let's see how the TV money actually stacks up before we pray for a PAC 12 invite.

The first question is, what west coast teams could we get and want to get?

I see lots of posts saying Arizona and ASU, but if we're trying to broaden the BIG XII footprint having both makes little sense. Same goes for Utah, although they might appeal to a different demographic than BYU in the state of Utah.

The second question is who to add if someone else jumps. KU is clearly interested in the B1G and I could see WVU (either alone or with KU) trying to go to the ACC. That would make "local" pods more difficult.
Whether Az and ASU are available will depend on how many go to the BIG. Obviously Oregon st and WSU would be the first two left out. I think Utah and one of the AZ schools next, based on thinking you need all 4 California schools to get 1, and the BIG salivating over Stanford and Berkeley being BIG brands. Academics don’t matter until you’re talking elite academic brands

Since we don’t have a conference network, taking rivalries works a lot better for the Big 12. We need matchups people are interested in. Intrastate can limit that, but AZ/ASU is better than most games of off-brand matchups, and both would pull better nationally against the rest of the conference than Memphis or Boise.

Some say no Pac12 teams will leave, and it’s going to be a P2, followed by Big12 (with some ACC) and Pac12. I don’t see how USC and Oregon do not eventually jump, although an easy auto to the playoffs may be worth the $40 million hit. They won’t need the conference branding to have good NLI.

Is it better to have 20 MM of TV money, be 9-3 and get 25MM of donations, or get 28MM of TV money, be 4-8 and get 15MM of donations? I agree that you have to weigh everything and see what makes the most sense long term and not panic.

Yeah, hammer option 1 all day. That’s also growing the brand and fanbase

Where did you hear that from?

There is still a real chance that the B1G would add KU and Colorado.

I would hope that would push the Pac-12 to add five of ISU, KSU, OSU, Tech, TCU, Houston. Objectively we are a better pick than KSU but if they go OSU plus three Texas schools, KSU has a bit of a geographic advantage.

I don’t expect this to happen but the B1G could take KU and not us
