That was pretty compelling.

Rhoads is obviously a guy that cares, is passionate and the players, if they're open minded, will run through fire for.

I thought it interesting that JP mentioned that Rhoads and his wife came into the ISU athletic offices just to visit with JP and talk football and ISU.

This to me shows that he wanted the job even back then, but it also proves something else. He wants to be at ISU for all the right reasons.

Color me cardinal and gold. For Paul Rhoads has me completely sold.

Hello ticket renewal.

Open up that ticket renewal link TONIGHT!!! AND put up the thermometer!

Wow I was pumped about this hire until I saw that. One thing I know is that to be a good coach you have to radiate self-confidence and project that unto your players. All he did was cry like a baby, kind of like all you wimps on this site.

I decided today that I am going to save our football program. I am going to become a coach, and you can see me in about 15-20 years when I make it to the level required. Until then, enjoy your vaseline-covered hinies being rubbed and promised a good future while terrible coaches and teams file through.

Just leave

Yeah, come back next fall after we're 2-0 to tell us we'll be on Gameday.

Looks like this solves the problem for ticket sales next year. We may have an aggressive team after all. Go defense.

I bet LJ was smiling that whole news conference hearing Paul Rhoads talk about defense. That was probably music to his ears.

We had a coach that showed no emotion. That got us 5 wins in 2 years. I'll take passion over disinterest any day.

We all wondered about that during this past season, didn't we. Turns out his distinerest wasn't poise or self-discipline, it really was disinterest.
The passion is BACK...

Prepare for years upon years of sadness! Its all good though because you should be used to it by now. If at any point you can no longer handle the unending sadness, feel free to reminisce about our 9-3 season or Seneca Wallace and his run.

I'm sold!

I love his style! Aggressive, passionate, physical
He did exactly what he needed to in that presser to get player/recruits on board with him.

Offensive phil-
physical, unique, defend width and length!!!!
Tell me who your OC is!!!!! hahaha

I thought he did a good job but it's funny how the fans reaction is always the same.

#1 Coach gets fired. Half the people hate the idea the other half love it.
#2 Coaching search happens and every big name is thrown that they are going to be the next ISU head coach
#3 Reality hits and we hire someone without a big name
#4 At first the fans are a little apprehensive
#5 JP holds a press conference and everyone starts going nuts
#6 fans expectations fo crazy and by the end of August fans are talking about bowl games
#7 Football season starts.

I'm not saying that this wasn't a good hire (who knows?). It's just funny that I've seen this every time a new ISU coach has been hired.

Maybe we have a different definition of what confidence is, because I think it takes A LOT of confidence to wear your emotions on your sleeves like that. He wasn't embarrassed of being emotional. You could see that when they thought he was done answering the question about his dad and he started talking about it again. He's not afraid to be emotional. that's the kind of confidence we need

That was this clown?

Classic.

If it looks like a rat, smells like a rat....

Probably not the place for that, but I heard it directly from a respected member in the athletics department that Gameday was in contact with us.

Nice post Bob - Who's the cry baby? Give me a break. That's what you call raw emotion and it's pretty hard to conceal your true feelings when it hits you at a live press conference for finally achieving one of your biggest goals, all while you're surrounded by your closest friends & family.

This guy is the real deal and he doesn't need your support anyway, so go ahead and take a hike. Happy Trails.

The next test is if we lose a game, does he take the blame for his guys or just say its because we don't have Big 12 football players on this roster.
