The slide show made me want to compare football and basketball, since I don't care about academics and markets as just a fan. I used average rank in FPI and BPI over 10 years. Sorry FPI/BPI haters, best I could do easily. Going 10 instead of 5 years made sense to me since it allows for changes in coaches and such... that hurt us in FB but helped in BB.

The more ways I look at it, the more I love the 4 schools they picked and the more I hope we just stop there unless a Power5 school becomes available.

Iowa fans watch Iowa state and vice versa, so both schools benefit which is good for both schools. We are AAU and our athletics as a whole is not terrible and we bring research dollars.

UCF: The stadium was designed for a planned expansion to 65,000 seats. UCF plans to begin the expansion by expanding the Roth Tower with more suites and club seating, and also adding an additional 10,000 seats in a third level on the east side of the stadium, increasing the stadium's capacity to 56,000

Thats the good news, along with the fact that game crushed PAC games Utah vs USC 1.37M & ACC FSU vs UNC 1.07M viewers.

The bad news is the new SEC and B1G had 5 games over 4.5M. The each had a game at almost 7m or more.

If we view things in terms of par the new B12 conference games can compete very well with PAC & ACC conference games. The ACC & PAC will get better OOC game ratings due to better matchups I'm afraid. Hopefully, that at least keeps the tv revenue close with the ACC & PAC.

Solid number, no doubt. But it was on ABC. Isn't that kind of the self fulfilling prophesy thing @brentblum has been talking about? It was the worst of all the network games other than the later night Pac 12 one.

We have an opportunity in this new conference to do special, and that is win. All of the top programs in the country have one thing in common, they win more than they loose. Look at Iowa. They've won more than they have lost in the past 40-50 years, and they are probably looked at as one of the top 25 teams in the nation because of it over that time period. All because they have won more than they lost, and thus have gained that respect among the college football world.

With Campbell having the program in its current position, we need to capitalize on this opportunity to be a winning program in the new conference, and thus media coverage of the conference championship game. Especially with OU and Texas out of the way.

You can look at it that way or you can look at this way. Show me a ACC or PAC conference game, not just this week but any other week that has done much better. This revamped Big12 won't be terrible after OU and UT leave. If anything it will be more balanced. The money may not be as good. That said, if I were Pollard, I'd be doing everything I could to get into the B1G.

Bowlsbt said TX and OU made up 50 percent of the tv money but they were also hoping for a 50 bump with the next deal. So it’s possible to money might end up in the same ballpark. Difference is someone like the B10 and SEC are going to see the large increases but at least B12 and ACC will be flat. Pac12 is TBD with their lack of playoff teams for many years and declining fan interest.

Thought this was interesting. Gundy more or less days he thinks the Pac12 is going to make a play in the next few years to get some teams in the central time zone.
