Wow! I just did a Google Street scene to see where that was. It was the location of my first alcohol antihalation. Walked that street hundreds of times over my years. Could barely recognize it. Now I REALLY feel old.

If you are really old like me, Welch Ave Station was The Library in my day. Interior is a lot the same down to the pool tables. There was a pizza place above it then that may have also been called Pizza Pit, but can’t remember. Used to be an IHOP nearby.

Wanting to roll up to Ames to watch the game from a bar on Saturday. Does anyone know who will be streaming this ESPN+ crap?
This is the problem having games on ESPN+ and / or other streaming services.

Lack of EASY NATIONAL ACCESS. Cannot just roll into any bar in anywhere USA and have the Iowa State game on a football Saturday or ask the barkeep to flip to the game. The Cyclones might as well be Idle this Saturday, because most of the casual surfing nation will not even know they are playing.

I will be listening on the radio.

If we’re going to have this much WAS discussion, there needs to be a post honoring the greatness of Inferno Wings.

Honestly, I would stab someone to be able to spend the day at WAS drinking beer and eating Infefno Wings while watching Cyclone football

I'm intrigued by the BNC place. Never heard of it but nice to see something going in there. I can't tell what's going on with Google Maps and Street View there. Did they take over t-galaxy and the keg shop? Battles had a decent sized area when they were there for a bit.

I believe it’s north of the Battles spot. I rarely make it to Welch (old), but almost it’s disorienting - half old-school character, half faux-brick uncanny valley suburban ped mall, and just a little bit of war zone mixed in. I can’t decide if they should hurry up and finish or if we need another riot to knock down all the cheap highrises and scare off investors.

I had their inferno wings and was really disappointed. They were 75% breading 10% bones and 15% meat. Stick a super meat sampler pizza in front of me though and watch it disappear!

If you want something other than the Campustown feel, perhaps try Wallaby's in Somerset. I really like going there. Or Bricktown Grill.

I remember the IHOP. When I went into Welch Ave Station I realized the only thing they changed was the name. LOL. Haven't been in it in a few yrs now so maybe it is different. $5 Large (XL?) one topping pizzas on Sundays were a staple for me. Coupons in the Daily every wk.

I have heard good things about the new place Sweet Caroline's (it is located on main st. in the old Olde Main space)
The TV set-up where the old main bar was, is great viewing. They are still figuring things out. They weren’t even open for the Baylor game, despite officially opening a week or two before. I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they didn’t have ESPN+ ready to go. I would call ahead and make sure they plan on having it. This will be a great spot once they get things figured out. Lack of workers has not made it easy.

ESPiN can go to hell. Hope Disney sells and they and they’re cronies whither on the vine.

I can assure you it is unchanged from 2013 to present.
