Sorry I get what the whole thread is about now. I deleted above because it has little to do with Covid.

What do you consider rare? According to CDC, roughly 16-17% are breakthrough positives.
You're living up to your former username.
It happening to you doesnt make it not rare, or less likely than if you had not been vaccinated.
The vaccine massively reduces the chances you will develop an infection at the level of which you test positive when exposed. No vaccine ever has been 100% effective, its all a community game every time.
Colin Powell was immunocompromised because he had cancer. Being immunocompromised meant that even with the vaccine, it was possible his immune system wouldnt be able to use that to mount a solid defense of the virus. Cases like this are an example of why it is important that everyone get vaccinated, so that they reduce the spread of the virus overall, decreasing the chances an immunocompromised individual would be exposed.
If the vaccine is acting like it should, reducing the effects of Covid, then there is a high probability that there are probably several that have it that don’t even know. Last October, (when the rest of my family got it so it’s an assumption) I apparently had it and never knew until my blood donation told me I did. I never went in because I never felt off.
So dumb. I got vaccinated for myself. The ridiculous excuses by some regarding the vaccine are head scratching dumb
... and apparently he passed that off as "immunized" ....?NFL Network, which was the first to report Rodgers was not vaccinated, reported Rodgers received a “homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor” that was designed to raise his antibody levels.
Agree. There is so much uncertainty still with this disease. There are almost no certainties as things evolve nonstop it appears. There is really no way to tell which population is a symptomatic to a higher degree, you note that the vaccine should produce such results and that you must have gotten it without knowing when not vaccinated. Kind of seems impossible to conclude one way or another. My 28 year old son still has long haul Covid a year later and his symptoms when he had it were like a bad flu but only lasted a few days. The year of nausea and chronic fatigue and weight loss has been far worse and we have no idea if that will continue for the rest of his life or not.
Just remember ... anecdotes =/= proof.
Anyhow, back to Rodgers ...
This is just bizarre. So it appears he told reported he had been "inoculated" and behaved as though he had been, even going to a Halloween party with teammates (per NFL rules, only allowed if you have been vaccinated).
Question -- does the NFL not actually check? They just take your word for it?
I don't think the story is so much vaccinated vs. non-vaccinated (lots of players chose not to, but at least were up front about it), it's the fact he lied about it and blatantly broke rules ... at least it would appear.

I believe he used the word “immunized.”
Again, it‘s not just about his vax status; it’s that he lied about it and flaunted the rules & protocols in the process.
I thought I read someplace today that the NFL knew because Rodgers had applied for his "treatment" to be considered the same as being vaccinated and they turned it down.Just remember ... anecdotes =/= proof.

Sounds like he's trying to make a "technically I wasn't lying!" argument.

Because it's a major story and it's fine to make fun of Rodgers for lying to everyone and believing in crap like homeopathy.I love how they call it breakthrough cases, to make it sound like it’s a rare event.
why isn’t this thread in the cave and out of sight from normal people?
Your inability to understand the difference between anecdotes and data is dumb. Your spreading of misinformation such as that which you did about Colin Powell is dumb.
If you could get covid 'just as easily' after getting the vaccine, and given the % of those eligible who are vaccinated, the number would be much higher if it were true.
Also this doesnt take into account those who don't get tested at all. It seems like those who won't get vaccinated are also more often those who won't bother to get tested in the first place either (unless their case rises to the level where theyre hospitalized).
I think your second paragraph is spot on. It would not surprise me that those that are not vaccinated would be much less likely to test. That would also explain why I have seen a greater amount of positives among the vaccinated.
Yes, you did. Because you used it as evidence of vaccines not working when it is misinformation to use that example. In reality it was his immune system that didn't work.Powell died of covid. That’s exactly what I said and it’s not misinformation at all unless you want to argue with all the news sources stating he died of covid. You can also argue with his family who said he died of covid as well. He also was vaccinated from covid. So no I did not spread any misinformation. I said he died of covid, which he did
I am guessing no. Timberwolves just lifted their mask mandate in Minneapolis. Doubt they would have a mask mandate in small town Iowa for basketball. Very few masks at Waterloo Black Hawk hockey game last week. (Probably about 2k attendance in half full arena.)Anyone hear yet if we have to wear mask in Hilton next Tuesday?
What do you think your statement means? If your company had 100 employees and 80 were vaccinated, what would it mean if 5 unvaccinated people got it and 6 vaccinated people got it?Over 50% of the positive tests at the company I work for have been fully vaccinated.
The other consideration is how many people provided real proof of vaccination vs taking the Rodgers Route of saying "Oh, uh, yeah. Sure. I was immunized. Still got dat der COVID, don'tcha know."What do you think your statement means? If your company had 100 employees and 80 were vaccinated, what would it mean if 5 unvaccinated people got it and 6 vaccinated people got it?
