Yeah, maybe. Or Houston could turn into a juggernaut. Who knows?

What I do know is you'll drive yourself insane waiting on that B1G invite. Might as well make the best with what we have. At least we're not in the AAC.
I mean it’s just reality. We don’t have a P5 conference long term. It will turn into P4 and if you are not in one of the bigger 4 you are pretty much out of it.

We have to make the most of what we’re given. I don’t ever expect an invite to another conference. The AAC is going to be equal with the Big 12 in the future unless the Big 12 can hang onto the P5 status. Eventually the other conferences are gonna vote it out because the Big 12 will be costing them spots in bigger bowl games and they will deem the conference lesser.

People keep saying this stuff and ignoring the fact that 5/12 of the new big 12 teams are currently ranked and 1/14 PAC teams are ranked. OU isn't getting enough respect because they have played a weak schedule and have escaped with close wins against terrible teams. Tulane, Nebraska, Kansas are all terrible and they barely won. Their best win is what - a 3 point win vs. WVU in Norman? They have yet to play 2, 3 and 4 in the league. If they win those games they will have earned respect and will get it. Right now they were just Wake Forest - good record without any good wins. OU hasn't earned respect yet. The only games they have won convincingly are against two teams that fired their coaches mid-season.

On the other hand, Oregon went into the Horseshoe and ran it down OSU's throat. And by the way no one else in the PAC is ranked and only Utah is getting votes. People don't respect the PAC. I'm sure the new Big 12 will be underappreciated, but the way voters are ranking these teams and viewers are watching, it suggests that may not be the case.
But why can’t the committee acknowledge that Ohio State was playing poorly at the beginning of the year or that Oregon has a loss to a 3 win Stanford team with a really weak schedule. The only thing propping up Cincy is their road win at Notre Dame. Without that and a bunch of wins against a new Big 12, they aren’t ranked near as high.

Wishing us to the Sub Belt is odd since it's on the rise to be the next top G5 conference. But sure, why not. New Big 12 is going to bang anyways and we'll have a lot of fun with it

Also wtf is that post accusing us of having ref favoritism. You are literally Texas football

People said the same thing about TCU. “Look how good they are as a non P5 team. Imagine what they can do as a P5 team.” They’ve turned into a mediocre P5 team. They didn’t turn into powerhouse a lot of people thought they would. UCF had a couple great years. They’ve been bad to mediocre any other time. They will be a bottom feeder in this conference along with Kansas. BYU won’t pull in better players because they are a Mormon school. What they get now, is what they’ll get in the future. They’ll be a mediocre team in the P5. Houston and Cincy might pull in a little better recruits but they will be pretty much the middle of the conference most years. This conference no longer has a blue blood, or a big name school to boost the perception. The Big 12, even with these new teams, is eventually going to get dropped from the P5 status. It’s treading water and barely staying afloat right now. ISU would be fools not to jump ship to the Big ten or PAC 12 if the opportunity presented itself.
TCU became mediocre because their coach has been there 20 years and decided he wants to be in a rock band. It's hard work being good in college football. It can either consume your life or you can lose.

In a rebuilding year BYU is 4-0 against the PAC.

New Big 12 and the PAC aren't on the same planet. New Big 12 is light years better. The new big 12 teams don't NEED to make a big "P5 jump" for the league to better than the PAC. That's the thing. It's already better as-is. Cincy doesn't need to make a big jump. They beat ND this year and gave Georgia it's best game in the past two years outside of 2020 Florida and Alabama.

Nobody in the media or elsewhere is pretending the PAC isn't garbage. If Oregon had beaten the University of Ohio in week 1 they'd probably be ranked in the 20s. A win in the horseshoe is probably overvalued, but it's a big time win.

Texas does not subscribe to the "process". Like the Yankees, they just try to buy immediate solutions to their problems.

They're now looking to the transfer portal for quick fixes, hoping to pick up Rattler and other stars who prefer to play for the name on the back of their jersey rather than the front.
With the new NIL rule, I'm sure Texas will be able to buy some quality talent. However, you can't buy quality culture. It has to be earned the hard way.

Why do you say OSU was playing poorly? They haven't had a win by less than two scores all year. Maybe Oregon is just good and beat them.

I would not say Cincy is being "propped up." Would they be undefeated in a P5 conference? Probably yes if the PAC 12 or ACC, but who knows? Forgive them if they go on cruise control and win some games that are closer than they should be. It's not like they are escaping with wins against Kansas or Tulane like Oklahoma has done.

Everybody thought they were a fraud last year and they gave Georgia everything they could handle and looked the part. There was nothing fluky about it.

BYU loses their QB in the first round of the draft and is 4-0 against the PAC.

If the Big 12 is a movie, Texas is the hot chick that sucks as an actor, but does nude scenes so people watch. OU is a star actor. We are replacing them with a solid group of actors to make for a good ensemble driven movie.

Great analogy. Oklahoma would be Tom Hanks, solid leading man that everyone respects and will miss when theyre gone. Texas right now is Sharknado era Tara Reid.

Cincinnati would be Liev Shreiber. BYU would be John Goodman, Houston would be Sam Rockwell, UCF would be Peter Storemare. We are Steve Buschemi.

This thread is so disappointing. I keep clicking on it thinking there will be more wonderfull Texas tears that we can all enjoy together, and instead it has turned into another tired conference debate, as if these same points haven't been made countless times in all the other threads that have gotten hijacked by this subject.
I got you.

So you agree Texas is doing intentional harm to ISU and other schools.

Curious, what other magical conference will ISU join? Big Ten will NEVER add ISU, and if you think Iowa wants us there instead of in the wilderness like the Hayden Fry years you are mistaken.

The new Big12 will be just fine moving forward, probably 3rd best conference after SEC and then Big Ten. And, we won't have to deal with being held hostage like we have for decades.
You're not wrong. It's pretty crazy but I think our best chance for promotion is the SEC expanding to 24 teams and hoping we make the cut. Culturally and academically they're our best fit (out of the other P5s)

Equal?? We just took the AAC's top programs and look what they replaced them with.

Lesser than who besides B1G & SEC? Step away from the ledge.

Speaking of the SEC, loved the chant towards the end of the game :prohm:

I hate that this thread is 50% realignment talk, but here I go, about to contribute to it.

The other conferences can’t/won’t vote the Big 12 out of the autonomy conferences, for the same reason the Big 10 can’t vote out Rutgers in 10 years for being past their usefulness. The lawsuits would be massive. Never mind that I think that whole outlook is overly pessimistic. But we’ve covered that ad nauseam.

The hate from those posts feels like warm rays of sunshine.

I’m sure OU will maintain their place near the top of college football. Texas on the other hand will grind away in Nebraska like mediocrity, talking about the good old days. Lol
that's the thing...I don't hate OU nearly as much as Texas because OU often backs up their arrogance...Texas does not. They are an arrogant fan base with nothing to back it up
